MUMBAI :

Jeep has introduced the new 2021 Wrangler in India, which now is almost INR 11 lakh cheaper than before. The new Wrangler is brought to India via the CKD (Completely  Knocked Down) route and is produced at the Ranjangaon plant in Maharashtra. This has led to the massive price drop of INR 53.90 lakhs (Ex-showroom). The Wrangler boasts two variants, the Unlimited variant comes in at INR 53.90 lakhs, while the Rubicon variant will set you back by INR 57.90 lakhs (both prices Ex-showroom, India).

Not much has changed on the Wrangler atleast in terms of its exterior experience. The Wrangler looks the same as before, embodying the rugged, go-anywhere look which Jeep has kept more or less the same. The Wrangler measures 4882mm in length, 1894mm in width, 1838mm (Unlimited), 1848mm (Rubicon) in height and has a wheelbase of 3008mm. The Wrangler has a ground clearance of 214mm of ground clearance (Unlimited) and 217mm (Rubicon). Jeep has equipped the Wrangler Rubicon with 17-inch aluminium alloys, while the Wrangler Unlimited comes with 18-inch alloys. Jeep has also given the Wrangler an all-around LED treatment with taillights, fog lights, DRLs and headlights. The Wrangler is offered in 5 colour options, Bright White, Sting Grey, Granite Crystal, Black and Firecracker Red.

Jeep has given the off-roader a modern look on the inside, with an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The instrument cluster also features a 7-inch MID that can be controlled via steering mounted controls. Leather seats and all-weather floor mats are also fitted in the Wrangler along with removable doors and a hardtop roof. Dual-zone climate control also comes standard with the Wrangler.

Powering the Wrangler is a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-petrol powerhouse that churns out 270 bhp and 400 Nm of twisting force. Jeep has given an 8-speed automatic gearbox as  standard on both variants. The Rubicon variant comes with a Rock-Trac full-time 4WD system with Tru-loc electronic locking differentials for both the front and rear axles. The car also features a 4:1 crawl ratio and an electronically operated sway bar. The Unlimited variant comes with a Selec-Trac full-time 4WD system with a 2.72:1 low ratio transfer case.

In terms of safety, Jeep has equipped the Wrangler with ESC, front and side airbags, electronic roll mitigation, TPMS, rear parking sensors and camera, hill start assist and hill  descent control. Overall, the Wrangler is one of the best out-of-factory off-roaders one can buy. And with the price cut, it is also a more feasible option now. Jeep has started accepting bookings for the ‘Made In India’ Wrangler and it is now available across all the Jeep dealerships in India.
