MUMBAI :

After commencing bookings in December 2021, Triumph has officially launched the Tiger Sport 660 in the Indian market with a price tag of INR 8.95 lakhs (ex-showroom). Based on the Trident 660, the Tiger Sport 660 commands a premium of INR 1.50 lakhs over its naked sibling. The Tiger Sport 660 is newest and the most accessible motorcycle in Triumph Motorcycles’ internationally acclaimed Tiger range.

In terms of styling, the Tiger Sport 660 has a radical new design over its naked counterpart, and is better suited to for long distances. The height-adjustable windscreen, sleek  front fairing and a more comfortable riding triangle make the Tiger Sport 660 a good adventure sports tourer. The motorcycle also sports a new 17-litre fuel tank which aids its touring  capabilities. Along with it, Triumph has also fitted the motorcycle with discreetly integrated pannier mounts. Over the Trident, the Tiger Sport 660 has a longer subframe to support luggage and offer more seating room for the rider and pilion.

Triumph is offering three colour options with the baby Tiger: Lucerne Blue & Sapphire Black, Graphite & Saphire Black and Korosi Red & Graphite. Apart from being one of the most budget friendly offering from Triumph, the Tiger Sport 660 also has a service interval of 12  months or 16,000km, making it very easy to maintain. Trident and the Tiger Sport 660 have the same Showa suspension set-up, but to complement the Tiger badge, the Tiger Sport 660 gets 150mm of travel at both ends, which is more than the Trident. In terms of ground clearance, the Tiger Sport 660 has 162mm of it, although it may not be the best in the segment, it will get the work done. Braking power is supplied by twin-Nissin calipers mated to two 310mm discs up front and one 255mm disc with Nissin caliper at the back. The bike also has an approachable 835mm seat height and weighs in at 206 kg.

Talking about the features of the Tiger Sport 660, Triumph has given it an all-round LED treatment and a new multi-functional instrument with a TFT display which can be  accesorized with My Triumph connectivity system. The bike also comes with Road and Rain modes with switchable traction control, ABS, ride-by-wire throttle, slip and assist clutch and an immobiliser.

In terms of firepower, the Tiger Sport 660 is powered by a inline-three, 660cc, DOHC engine that churns out 81PS of power and has a twisting force of 64 Nm. The soulful inline-three is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a wet multi-plate slipper clutch.

In the Indian market, the Tiger Sport 660 will go up against the likes of Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Benelli TRK 502.
