MUMBAI :

After announcing its plans to enter the Indian market in 2019 and with the Coronavirus delaying Citroen’s official debut, the French manufacturer is all set to unveil the C5 Aircross  SUV on February 1, 2021. The SUV will be a completely knock-down (CKD) product and will be assembled at the company’s plant at Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.

There is nothing radical about the C5 Aircross’ design, but at the same time it does have some attractive styling elements that make it stand out from the rest of the pack. However, what it does possess, is a bossy front grille, manned with a split headlight cluster with unique square-shaped head lamps along with DRLs. Even though the C5 Aircross may come across as a crossover, it does offer an impressive ground clearance of 230mm.

At the heart of Citroen’s core DNA is comfort and safety. The C5 Aircross is equipped with class leading hydraulic suspensions which ensure that this SUV can drive through the toughest roads with ease and without compromising on the comfort of the passengers.

The C5 Aircross’ interiors are equally appealing as its exteriors. It is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, split AC vents and well-crafted seats that get 15 mm thickened foam texture for maximum comfort, softness, and support for the passengers.

To make the driving experience more relaxed and to ensure that you have everything you need at your fingertips, the Citroen SUV will come loaded with features such as the Highway Driver Assist, a level-2 autonomous driving system along with six smart car connectivity features.

Citroen is expected to offer the C5 Aircross in both petrol and diesel trims in India. While the petrol variant will be powered by a 177bhp 1.6-litre engine, the 2-litre diesel motor will have an output of 173bhp. Both the engines will come with either with an 8-speed automatic transmission or with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

With such impressive specs and features, the C5 Aircross, is all set to lock horns directly with already well-established players in the Indian market such as the Jeep compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Skoda Karoq. Needless to say, Citroen’s debut vehicle is definitely a much awaited one, especially because Citroen is expected to price the C5 Aircross rather aggressively.
