MUMBAI :

For INR 42.50 lakh (Ex-Showroom, India), you can now get yourself a new BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ edition. This edition has arrived after almost a year and only 24 customers will be able to buy the special edition 2-Series. This version commands an INR 4 lakh mark up over the regular 2-Series on sale in India. The car features the same powertrain as the regular variant but comes with a few cosmetic tweaks and M Performance parts to contribute to the hyped-up price tag.

As the name suggests, the BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ comes with blacked-out exteriors, which include, a high-gloss black mesh M front grille, black ORVM housings and BMW M Performance rear spoiler that is also finished in gloss black.

Alpine White and Black Sapphire are two new paint schemes on offer for the 24 customers.

BMW has also given 18-inch M Performance Y-Spoke 554 M forged alloy wheels finished in Jet Black along with BMW hub caps that are self-centring.

The rear spoiler, apart from aesthetics, also optimizes the airflow to reduce lift. BMW has also fitted the car with black chrome tailpipe finishers to enhance the rear profile of the car.

On the inside, you get freshly designed sports seats along with memory function, illuminated Brooklyn trim, decorative lighting, dimmable ambient lighting, the M Sport steering wheel and gesture controls, besides other goodies. The car also comes with launch control, virtual assistant, DSC, parking assist and a head-up display. Things that haven’t changed over the standard car is a 10.25-inch infotainment system that features the latest version of the company’s ConnectedDrive technology and features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a plethora of other functionalities. The 10.25-inch BMW Live Cockpit Professional also comes with 3D navigation to make the drive more relaxed.

The car features the same engine as on the regular petrol 2-Series. The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine, is good for 190 BHP and 280 Nm of twisting force. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic gearbox and is front-wheel-drive only. The car can do the 0-100 km/h run in just 7.1 seconds. The car also comes with 4 driving modes, ECO PRO, Comfort and Sport.

While BMW’s latest offering does not have a direct rival in the Indian market, it will go up against the Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz A-Class Limousine. BMW is also offering lucrative service packages on the 2-Series Gran Coupe 220i M Sport ‘Black Shadow’ edition.
