With the 25th James Bond film, No time to Die, hitting theatres this November, it is not only the Aston Martin lovers who will feel thrilled when the legendary DB5 drops its headlamps and pulverizes the bad guys with a gatling gun. The movie will also give aficionados of Triumph motorcycles something to be really elated about – their latest bike, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 Bond Edition

Here’s the catch! Either you will need really deep pockets to get your hands on the bike as only 250 will be made, thanks to Triumph Motorcycles and EON Productions signing a deal to only produce a limited number of ‘Bond Edition’ Scrambler 1200s…or you will have to be resourceful enough to know somebody who owns the bike, and who will be willing to offer it to you so that you can actually propel yourself into the air using a staircase and then leaping onto a street square in Italy or wherever you fancy, a la Bond style.

Triumph ‘Bond Edition’ Scrambler 1200 comes with a slew of fantastic features that will make the owner feel he has acquired a true-blue Triumph classic.

First, the cosmetic changes: The Scrambler 1200 features an oversized Triumph badge on its black fuel tank with an impression of the British flag beneath the Triumph insignia. A brushed-look foil decal in place of the kneepads along with a gold coachline running alongside the latter, shouts out its bespoke character.

To make sure you are noticed riding this ‘1-in-250’ motorcycle, the exhaust number board that houses the exhaust pipe comes in jet black, embossed with the ‘007’ insignia. That’s not all, when you switch on your bike, the 007 lights up in the gun barrel spiral groove on the TFT display, never letting you lose sight of what a special machine you’re riding.

There are some exclusive features offered on the Scrambler 1200 that make it exclusive.  For instance, there is a premium black anodized rear mudguard, a black grab rail and sump guard, black forks, engine badges with gold accents, black powder coated swing arm and a sprocket cover.

Complementing the bike’s Bond theme, it features a high-level front mudguard with unique black anodized finish, fog lights with black anodized shrouds, a premium Arrow silencer with carbon fibre-end caps, machined front brake reservoir, black rear wheel adjusters and a stainless steel headlight grill, all of which add to its distinct look. Topping it all are heated handgrips and a unique numbered badging on the handle bar, not to forget, a Keyless Ignition enough to make any avid biker as well as a Bond fan feel ‘special’.

To give the rider ‘car level’ comfort on a big bike, the Scrambler 1200, also offers Cruise Control in the left switch cube, along with a 5V charging socket underneath the seat that comes in a foam-lined storage box.

Coming to the engine specs, the bike boasts of 89bhp@7400rpm and a rubber burning torque of 110Nm achievable at around 3950rpms.  Like the all-new generation Bonneville series engine, the Scrambler 1200, engine also offers ride-by-wire capabilities and a liquid cooling system for enhanced performance as well as a fuel efficient ownership. It also incorporates a Multipoint Sequential Electronic Fuel injection and a torque-assisted wet multi-plate clutch known to offer enhanced ride quality.

The Scrambler’s front suspension sports a Showa 47mm wide fully adjustable USD forks and the rear suspension featuring an Ohlins fully adjustable piggy-back with twin springs. Each offers 250mm wheel travel and suspension capability for great off-road capabilities as well as ground clearance.

When it comes to bringing 89 horses to a stop, the twin 320mm discs at the front with Brembo M50 monobloc calipers, and adjustable folding foot controls get the job effortlessly.

Here’s something really cool. The Scrambler 1200 offers six riding modes: Road, Rain, Off-Road, Sport and Off-Road Pro. These have been pre-set to alter the throttle response, ABS settings and Traction Control to suit the rider’s requirements. The Off-Road Pro mode turns the ABS and the Traction Control off and increases the throttle response by a notch for an extreme hardcore off-roading experience.

Some other nifty features include Optimized Cornering ABS and Traction Control and Inertial Measurement Unit which measure the roll, pitch, yaw, leaning angle and acceleration rates that makes sure the motorcycle stays the course. Not veering an inch towards the left or the right. With its backlit switches and all LED lighting with DRL, there is little doubt that you will be able to keep yourself away from this dream machine.

If you are a bike aficionado, a Bond fan, and money is not a constraint, the Triumph Scrambler 1200 Bond Edition, is a bike that you definitely want to own.
