Maserati’s first electric SUV, the Grecale, has been developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab in Modena and produced at the Cassino plant. The electric-SUV as claimed by the brand strikes the perfect balance between versatility, elegance, performance and innovation, guaranteeing performance, comfort and safety. Along with the SUV being fully electric, the Grecale will also be offered with conventional internal combustion and hybrid powertrains. However, the fully electric model will be brought to us in a year’s time.

The brand with the Trident has announced that they are offering GT, Modena and Trofeo variants for the Grecale. Along with these three variants, Maserati will also be offering a limited edition variant called the PrimaSerie Launch Edition. And Maserati is also adding a Grecale Folgore variant, featuring an electric powertrain with 400V technology, which will be available next year.

In terms of looks, the front fascia of the Grecale has a beautiful low and imposing grille, which is flanked by fabulous looking headlights with LED DRLs. The Grecale also has some hints from the MC20 as seen from the grille. At the back, the boomerang taillights, inspired by the Giugiaro 3200 GT, add some zest to the overall appeal of the car. In terms of dimensions of the car, the Grecale measures 4846 mm in length, 2163 mm in height and 1670 mm in width. The SUV also comes with a wheelbase of 2901 mm.

On the inside, the Grecale is plush.  The four-screen set-up contributes to a more radical interior design and shifts the design language for this SUV in a whole new direction. The 12.3-inch central touch screen infotainment system is one of the largest ones ever seen in a Maserati and is complemented by an 8.8-inch touchpad for the climate control. The users also get access to Maserati Intelligent Assistant (MIA) Multimedia system and Maserati Connect. And to enhance the whole experience, Maserati has also fitted the car with Sonus Faber 3D sound system and 14 speakers as standard! Users can also upgrade the number of speakers to 21, on-demand!

Maserati is offering three engine options with the Grecale. The Grecale GT is powered by a four-cylinder, mild-hybrid engine that churns out 300 BHP, while the Modena is equipped with four-cylinder, 330 BHP, mild-hybrid engine. The cherry on top of the cake is the 3-litre, V6 petrol engine that is based on the Nettuno engine from the MC20. This V6 on the Grecale Trofeo churns out a mouth-watering 530 BHP. The Grecale Trofeo can hit the 100 km/h mark from standstill in just 3.8 seconds and go on ahead to reach a top speed of 285 km/h.

Maserati has also equipped the car with various driving modes such as, COMFORT, GT, SPORT, CORSA (Trofeo only) and OFF-ROAD. The launch of the Grecale in the Indian market is expected and will come to the Indian shores after Maserati launches the car in the international market.
