MUMBAI :

The Germans are back at it again and have come up with two all-new AMG sedans in India. The high-performance sedans, the AMG E 53 4MATIC+ and the E 63 S 4MATIC+, are based on the best-selling E-Class sedan in the Mercedes-Benz line-up. With the two new AMGs on the block, Mercedes-Benz has now extended its AMG line-up to 11 cars.

Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+

The E 53 4MATIC+ looks exquisite. It gets the elegant design of the E-Class and combines the sporty snippets of the AMG line. The redesigned front grille is now inspired by the AMG DNA and is surrounded by flat headlights. A sporty front bumper below it completes the front fascia. The rear of the car also comes with flatter taillights with two new sections, that makes it distinguishing between the AMG variant and the normal E-Class easier. The tweaks at the back make it look wider than the regular E-Class and improve the aerodynamics of the car. Mercedes-Benz is also offering a few more colour options with the car, namely, Graphite Grey Metallic, Mojave Silver and High-Tech Silver Metallic.

The new Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ gets Nappa leather seats that come with extra lateral support for more comfort and the AMG badge on the backrests never lets you forget that you’re in an AMG. The infotainment system and the instrument cluster are fully digital and come with the latest MBUX system. Ambient lighting is standard on the car which can be adjusted to suit your tastes. The instrument cluster comes with 3 AMG modes, Supersport, Sport and Modern Classic and each mode has a different layout. The AMG menu offers a wide range of data that includes, gear speed indicator, G-Meter, Engine Data, and RACETIMER. The driver gets an AMG inspired steering wheel and features a twin-spoke design and a “Hands-on” feature. The aluminium paddle shifters are also slightly bigger than the regular E-Class.

The E 53 4MATIC+ comes with a 3.0-litre, twin-turbo, in-line 6 engine that churns out an impressive 435 bhp of power and 520 Nm of twisting force. The twin-turbocharging is via an exhaust gas turbocharger and an additional electric compressor. Supposedly if you need an additional 22 BHP of power and 250 Nm of torque, the EQ boost system will take care of it. All this power is sent to all four wheels via the 4MATIC+ system. This helps the car to do the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.5 seconds and eventually reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4Matic+ also comes with an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission that aids in slick gear shifts.

The AMG E 53 4MATIC+ is priced at INR 1.02 Crores (Ex-showroom).

Mercedes-AMG E 63 S 4MATIC+

It is well-documented that the previous-gen E 63 S 4MATIC+ was dubbed the most powerful model of the E-Class. The story with the latest E 63 S 4MATIC+ launched recently, is no different and it is as fabulous as ever. Fancy relaxing? Well, you still have the luxury of the E-Class in it.

If we have to use a single word for the design of the E 63 S 4MATIC+ it would be “stunning.” The front bumper of the E 63 S 4MATIC+ gets real air vents that help cool the V8 engine under the hood and give the front fascia a more aggressive look. The side profile is fluid as ever and to complement it, Mercedes-Benz has provided new 20-inch, 5-spoke alloys. They are aerodynamically enhanced and feature a wider aero rim edge. The rims can be chosen in two paint schemes, Matt Black or High-Gloss Tantalum Grey. The redesigned rear apron of the car portrays a wider stance and enhances the aerodynamics of the car making a world of difference in comparison with the regular E-Class.

Inside is a world of luxury and you’ll find it hard to tell that you’re actually seated inside a sports sedan, if not for all the AMG touches that will not let you forget it easily. The AMG-specific infotainment system, steering wheel, seats and instrument cluster make the interiors of the E 63 S 4MATIC+ feel special. The AMG menu offers a variety of information about the car and the MBUX system is one of the most seamless in the industry. The performance steering wheel can detect whether the driver has his hands on the steering wheel or not and if left unattended for a long time, will activate the Emergency Brake Assist. The driver can select 6 different driving modes via the steering wheel or the trackpad: Slippery, Sport, Comfort, Sport+, Individual and Race.

The 2021 E 63 S 4MATIC+ comes with a 4-litre, bi-turbo, V8 engine that runs on gasoline. The V8 engine puts out a soul crunching 612 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. All-wheel-drive come in handy while putting so much torque down to the tarmac. The Drift Mode which makes it a rear wheel drive lets you have some serious fun with the car. The fire breathing V8 is mated to a 9-speed multi-clutch transmission to extract the maximum performance from it. The 0-100 km/h time stands in at just 3.4 seconds and the top speed is at the 300 km/h mark.

The new E 63 S 4MATIC+ will set you back by INR 1.70 Crores (Ex-showroom) but will deliver an unparalleled driving experience.

Both cars can be booked via Mercedes-Benz dealerships across the country or via their website, online.
