MUMBAI :
Royal Enfield and Roadsters are sort of inseparable. Well, at least it is pretty evident from the current product line-up of the Chennai-based brand which comprises of products such as Hunter 350 and Shotgun 650. Now, Royal Enfield has come up with an all-new roadster motorcycle, christened “Guerrilla 450 which will lock horns with Triumph Speed 400, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, and Honda CB300R in the Indian market.
Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 has been presented in three trims namely Analogue, Dash, and Flash at price points of INR 2.39 lakh, INR 2.49 lakh and INR 2.54 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai), respectively in the Indian market. The pre-bookings for the motorcycle began from July 17, 2024 and the test rides and sales will commence from August 1, 2024. The Guerilla 450 which will also go on sale in multiple European markets such as Spain, Germany, UK, France and Italy from August 15, 2024, will be called Royal Enfield GRR 450 in most of the Latin American markets, where it will be launched in a phased manner by early next year.
Based on a steel twin spar tubular frame, the Guerrilla 450 flaunts a round LED headlamp as standard. Some of the other notable design highlights include an upright stance, a stepped bench-seat, trafficators with integrated tail lamp, mid-set footpegs, and an upswept silencer. The roadster has a wheelbase of 1440mm and gets 17-inch alloy wheels. Royal Enfield has equipped the Guerrilla 450 with CEAT-sourced tyres with section size of 120/70 R17 at front and 160/60 R17 at the rear. These are the widest tyres ever used in a locally manufactured motorcycle in India. The roadster tips the scale at 185 kg, which is nearly 11 kg lighter than the Himalayan 450.
The entry-level Analogue model gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, which is borrowed from the Hunter 350 and Super Meteor 650. While it is deprived of Bluetooth connectivity, there is a tripper navigation pod adjacent to it which can be connected with a Smartphone to access the navigation function. The Dash and Flash trims boast of an all-digital 4-inch TFT instrument unit with integrated Google Maps for navigation, which is already seen on the Himalayan 450. In addition, riders can also access music control, weather forecasts, and comprehensive vehicle information through the TFT instrument cluster. Royal Enfield has made it official that ‘Wingman’ will also be made available in the Guerrilla 450 as an MIY feature which will further empower the rider by staying connected with the motorcycle and Royal Enfield GRID support at all times. Other notable features on-board are 43mm telescopic front suspension, linkage-type rear mono-shock unit, ride-by-wire technology, two riding modes, and assist slip clutch.
Powered by Royal Enfield’s 452cc liquid-cooled Sherpa petrol engine, the Guerrilla 450 delivers top power of 39.4 bhp @ 8,000 rpm and peak torque of 40 Nm @ 5,500 rpm. However, over 85% of the torque is achieved at 3000 rpm, which makes it a better riding machine for city roads by avoiding constant gear shuffle. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
In terms of color options, the base Analogue trim can be availed in Smoke Silver and Playa Black shades while the mid Dash grade comes in Playa Black and Gold Dip schemes, followed by the range-topping Flash variant which is offered in Yellow Ribbon and Brava Blue.
Royal Enfield has not disclosed the official mileage figures yet.
