Of late, the EV segment in the Indian market has grown manifold - be it the electric two-wheeler vertical or the electric four-wheeler space – both have seen unprecedented success. At present, there are a plethora of electric scooters on sale in India, which gives buyers ample choice. Here’s a look at some of the most popular electric scooters in the domestic market…
1. Ola S1
Ola S1 is, undoubtedly, the most sold as well as most popular electric scooter in the Indian market. Announced nearly three back in August 2021, it is offered in three trims namely S1 Pro, S1 Air and S1 X. The introductory prices start at INR 1.30 lakh, INR 1.05 lakh, and INR 75,000 (ex-showroom), respectively in the country. All the variants come with a standard warranty of 8 years for the battery pack. The range-topping Ola S1 Pro returns the highest range of 195 km on a single charge while the top speed is pegged at 120kmph. Produced at Ola’s FutureFactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, it commands a general waiting period of 4-6 weeks.
2. Ather Rizta
Launched earlier this year on April 6, 2024, at the second edition of Ather Community Day, the Rizta electric scooter is available in three grades namely Rizta S 2.9 kWh, Rizta Z 2.9 kWh, and Rizta Z 3.7 kWh at INR 1.10 lakh, INR 1.25 lakh, and INR 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), respectively. Being called a complete “family” scooter, it offers a range of 160 km on a single charge with a top speed of 80 kmph. Ather Rizta debuts the first-in-segment SkidControl (traction control) feature in the electric two-wheeler segment.
3. Bajaj Chetak
The iconic “Chetak” nameplate made a historic comeback four years back in form of Bajaj’s first-ever electric scooter in the Indian market. It can be presently availed in three variants namely Chetak 2901, Chetak Urbane, and Chetak Premium at starting prices of INR 96,000, INR 1.23 lakh, and INR 1.47 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), respectively. The flagship Chetak Premium, housing a 3.2 kWh battery pack, delivers a range of 126 km on a single charge while having a top speed of 73 kmph. The entry-level Chetak 2901 was launched merely a couple of days back in the domestic market to counter Ola S1 X.
4. Hero Vida V1
Hero MotoCorp, the country’s leading two-wheeler brand, finally forayed into the EV segment in Oct 2022 with the launch of Vida V1 Plus and Vida V1 Pro electric scooters. The base V1 Plus is priced at INR 1.03 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi) while the top-end V1 Pro attracts a sticker price of INR 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The V1 Pro e-scooter has been equipped with a removable 3.94 kWh battery pack which returns a range of 165 km on single charge with a top speed of 80 kmph. On the other hand, the V1 Plus gets a detachable 3.44 kWh battery with max range of 143 km and top speed of 80 kmph.
5. TVS iQube
The iQube electric scooter was first launched in Jan 2020 in India. As of today, TVS iQube range comprises of five variants namely iQube 2.2 kWh, iQube 3.4 kWh, iQube S 3.4 kWh, iQube ST 3.4 kWh and iQube ST 5.1 kWh. The iQube line-up is priced in a domain of INR 95,000-185,373 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The ST 5.1 kWh top trim has a real range of 150 km on a single charge along with a top speed of 82 kmph. TVS iQube boasts of as many as 118+ connected features, including Voice Assist and Alexa skill set.
6. TVS X
Debuting last year in August in Dubai, TVS X is the brand’s flagship electric scooter in India with export plans in pipeline for several international markets. Priced at a whopping INR 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), it is based on the XLETON platform with an array of premium features such as Hill Hold Control, LED headlamp, and 10-inch TFT instrument cluster with streaming of Instagram reels, YouTube videos and songs. Equipped with a 4.4 kWh battery pack, it has a range of 140 km with top speed of 105 kmph. Initially, TVS X will be sold in limited cities in India.
7. Ampere Nexus
Launched in May 2024, Ampere Nexus is presented in two variants namely ST and EX at prices of INR 1.10 lakh and INR 1.20 lakh, respectively. Both the aforementioned prices are introductory and ex-showroom. Designed and developed in India, it houses a 3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack which provides a range of 136 km on a single charge with top speed of 93 kmph. Some of the notable features on-board are five riding modes, 7-inch touchscreen TFT and front disc brake. The bookings for the e-scooter are underway at a token payment of INR 9999/- across the country.
8. Bounce Infinity E1
Bounce Infinity E1 is available in three derivatives namely E.1+, E.1 LE, and E.1 at prices of INR 1.10 lakh, INR 1.12 lakh, and INR 1.26 lakh, respectively. The E.1+ and E.1 LE get a 1.9 kWh battery pack which returns a range of 70+ km and top speed of 65kmph while the E.1 comes with a 2.5 kWh battery which gives real world range of 100+ km and top speed of 55kmph. Recently, the brand expanded the E1 range with two new variants namely E1X and E1+X at INR 55,000 and INR 59,000 in the domestic market. The entire E1 line-up of e-scooters is offered with a swappable and detachable battery.
9. Bajaj Chetak 35
Bajaj Auto introduced the Chetak 35 electric scooter in three derivatives namely 3501, 3502, and 3503 in the Indian market. The price for the entry-level 3503 trim has not been announced yet while the 3502 and 3501 come at INR 1.20 lakh and INR 1.27 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), respectively. Underpinning a new frame, Bajaj Chetak 35 series comes with a new 3.5 kWh battery which is placed underneath the floorboard in order to free the underseat storage area. The Chetak 35 has a range of 153 km on full charge while it takes around 3 hours to charge the battery via the on-board home charge.
10. Ola Gig & Gig+
As suggested by the name, these electric scooters are purely meant for gig workers. The Ola Gig, priced at INR 39,999 (ex-showroom), houses a detachable 1.5 kWh battery with range of 112 km and top speed of 25kmph. On the other hand, Ola Gig+ is the better equipped variant with two portable battery packs of 1.5 kWh which return a combined range of 157 km with top speed of 45kmph as it comes at a price of INR 49,999 (ex-showroom). The deliveries for Ola Gig and Ola Gig+ will begin from April 2025 while bookings can be made at a token payment of INR 499/- in India.
11. Ola S1 Z and S1 Z+
It is Ola’s first e-scooter with swappable battery pack. Ola S1 Z and S1 Z+ are are the brand’s most affordable electric offerings as well till date with prices of INR 59,999 and INR 64.999 (ex-showroom), respectively, in the Indian market. The S1 Z range is packed with two 1.5 kWh batteries with a range of 146 km while the top speed is pegged at 70kmph. Ola will commence the first deliveries of the S1 Z range from May 2025 in the domestic market. Some of the notable features of the S1 Z range are LCD display, 14-inch wheels and physical key.
12. VLF Tennis
Velocifero, also widely known as VLF, launched its first-ever electric scooter in the form of the Tennis in the Indian market. The Italian company has joined hands with Kolhapur-based Motohaus for sales operations in the country. Carrying a 2.5 kWh battery pack, VLF Tennis delivers a range of 130 km with top speed of 65 kmph. The scooter can be fully charged in 3 hours through a 720W home charger. The features on-board include all-LED lighting, 12-inch wheels and 5-inch TFT instrument console. The e-scooter tips the scale at merely 88 kg, excluding the battery.
13. BGauss RUV 350
The RUV 350 was introduced in three variants namely i EX, EX and MaX in a price range of INR 1.10-1.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Powered by a LFP battery pack of 3 kWh, the range topping Max trim of the e-scooter has a range of 120 km in Eco Mode. Meanwhile, the i EX and EX trims carry a 2.3 kWh battery with a range of 90 km. BGauss RUV 350 has a top speed of 75 kmph while some of the significant features in the electric scooter include Fully-coloured 5-inch TFT instrument console, Bluetooth connectivity, Navigation, Call alerts, 16-inch wheels, Cruise control, Hill hold and Over-the-air (OTA) updates.
14. Hero Vida V2
Hero MotoCorp, expanded its electric 2-wheeler portfolio and launched Vida V2 scooter with removable battery pack in three variants namely Lite, Plus and Pro at price points of INR 96,000, INR 1.15 lakh, and INR 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. The entry-level Lite trim comes equipped with a 2.2 kWh battery with 94 km range while the mid-spec Plus variant gets 3.44 kWh battery pack with a range of 143 km, followed by the range-topping Pro grade which is offered with a 3.94 kWh battery with range of 165 km on a single charge. The 0-80 percent battery charge can be achieved in 6 hours using the home charger.
15. BMW CE 04
India’s most expensive electric scooter at INR 14.90 lakh (ex-showroom) was launched in July this year while deliveries began from Sep 2024. Offered with a 8.5 kWh battery pack, it comes with a range of 130 km on a full charge. BMW CE 04 gets three ride modes in the form of Eco, Rain and Road. The CE 04 e-scooter boasts of two charging options namely 2.3 kW standard charger and 6.9 kW fast charger with time of 4 hours & 20 mins and 1 hour & 40 mins, respectively. The CE 04 rides on 15-inch wheels, which are the largest in the segment. It tips the scale at 231 kg, which is almost identical to the R 1300 GS.
16. BMW CE 02
Manufactured locally at Hosur factory of TVS, BMW CE 02 comes at a sticker price of INR 4.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Equipped with two battery packs of 1.96 kWh, it returns a range of 108 km on a single charge along with a top speed of 95 kmph. It has maximum power output of 15 bhp and peak torque value of 55 Nm. Weighing at 142 kg, BMW CE 02 has a saddle height of 745 mm. Some of the notable features in the e-scooter include Heated grips, Smartphone holder, 3.5-inch TFT instrument console and golden-coloured USD front suspension.
17. Eblu Feo X
Godawari Electric Motors launched the Eblu Feo X in August 2024 at INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the brand’s second electric scooter in the Indian market. Powered by a 2.36 kWh battery pack, the Feo X gets a range of 110 km on a full charge. The e-scooter is available in five colourways namely Cyan Blue, Wine Red, Jet Black, Tele grey and Traffic White. The Feo X comes with 28 litres of underseat storage while having a ground clearance of 170 mm. The e-scooter boasts of multiple premium features in the form of 12-inch tubeless tyres, 7.4-inch TFT digital instrument console and 60 kmph top speed.
