NEW DELHI :

Ather Energy, India’s leading electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, continues to set the benchmark for safety in the two-wheeler segment through its cutting-edge technological innovations. In a country where nearly 45% of all road fatalities involve two-wheelers, according to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ Road Accidents in India 2022 report, Ather’s commitment to enhancing rider safety is more crucial than ever.

Traditionally, cars have led the way in road safety with features such as airbags, Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS), and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which have become standard expectations. However, the two-wheeler segment has lagged in this area, with safety innovations like ABS and Advanced Rider Assistance Systems (ARAS) only being introduced after governmental mandates and often with delays.

Ather Energy is changing this narrative by integrating advanced safety features directly into their EV scooters, combining hardware and software in a way that allows for more comprehensive and responsive safety measures.

Unlike traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, which are limited in their ability to update or add new features post-purchase, Ather’s EVs can continuously evolve through software updates, enabling riders to benefit from the latest safety innovations. One of the standout features in Ather’s safety suite is SkidControl™, a traction control system that monitors and adjusts motor torque to prevent skidding on low-friction surfaces like gravel, water, or sand. Additionally, Ather’s FallSafe™ system automatically cuts off power to the motor if the scooter detects a fall, reducing the risk of further injury by preventing unintentional acceleration.

The company’s commitment to safety extends beyond these features. Ather’s electric scooters are designed with intelligent systems that provide real-time safety interventions. For instance, the Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) activates flashing lights during sudden stops at high speeds, alerting other drivers to potential danger and reducing the risk of rear-end collisions. Convenience features like Theft & Tow detect and Live Location Sharing add another layer of security, allowing riders to track their vehicles and share their location without distraction.

Ather Energy’s approach to safety is proactive and comprehensive. By leveraging the inherent advantages of EV technology, Ather ensures that its scooters are not only safer but also smarter, with the capability to evolve and adapt through continuous updates. This commitment to safety is setting new standards in the two-wheeler industry, offering Indian riders unparalleled protection and peace of mind.
