MUMBAI :

Since its inception, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, has been at the top of the pecking order. Synonymous with fine taste, the S-Class has always occupied pride of place as “The Luxury Sedan” in eminent celeb garages. Little surprise then that since 1951, Mercedes-Benz has sold over 4 million units of the S-Class worldwide. From the Model 220, 135 years have gone by, and Mercedes-Benz continues to deliver the epitome of luxury. Now, in its 7th generation, the all-new S-Class comes with not just mind-blowing tech but also with richer features that will make you fall in love with the sedan all over again.

The new W223 looks leaner and meaner than its predecessor. The front fascia is dominated by the beautiful grille with three horizontal chrome slats and the star logo on the bonnet. The all-LED headlights feature a new ‘Digital Light System’. While the strong shoulder lines give the S-Class look a more gripping look, the chrome surrounds for the windows make the look classier. At the back, the chrome strip that runs across the boot along with the wrap-around taillamps completes the opulent look on the S-Class.

Inside, the S-Class is as luxurious as ever. Mercedes-Benz has provided the luxury sedan with the 2nd-gen MBUX OS. The 2nd-gen MBUX system now comes with enriched voice commands that can be activated by saying ‘Hey Mercedes’. The 12.8-inch portrait-oriented infotainment system now dominates the interiors. Almost all the functions of the car such as the AC controls, ambient lighting, navigation, etc, can be operated via the infotainment system. Along with that, comes the digital driver’s display, which measures 12.3-inches and comes with a 3D display. With the help of 2 HUDs (Head Up Display), the car also makes use of Augmented Reality. There are three more screens at the back of the S-Class, with two of them behind each front seat and a 7-inch tablet. The tablet can be used to activate the massage function in the rear seats, raise the window blinds, change navigation, and other such tasks. The front seats have 19 motors to adjust the seating position exactly the way the passengers want. Also, ten different massage modes can be experienced in the S-Class. Besides all this, there is also the 31-speaker Burmester 4D surround-sound system in the S-Class to deliver unparalleled sound quality to its occupants.

Mercedes’ four-wheeled chariot offers two engines, the 450 4Matic which comes with an M256, 3.0-litre, inline-6, petrol powerhouse that churns out 367 BHP and 500 Nm of torque and the 400d that comes with the very powerful, OM 656, 3.0-litre, inline-6, diesel engine that puts out 330 bhp and 700 Nm of torque. Both the engines can reach a top speed of 250 km/h. The sedan also comes with the fabled Four-wheel steering, making it easier to manoeuvre the sedan in short spaces.

Mercedes-Benz is offering five different colour options with the S-Class: Designo Diamond White, Onyx Black, Anthracite Blue, Rubellite Red and Emerald Green.
