Ather expands 450 line-up with new 450S 3.7 kWh variant offering extended range

Ather Energy, India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has strengthened its popular 450 Series portfolio with the introduction of the new 450S variant, now equipped with a larger 3.7 kWh battery pack. This strategic addition delivers an IDC range of 161 kilometres, effectively addressing a key market need for extended range without compromising on the series’ characteristic performance appeal.

Designed for riders who prioritise sporty character and long-distance capability over advanced software features, the new 450S variant offers a balanced proposition in Ather’s premium electric scooter line-up.

Previously, the 450X 3.7 kWh sat at the top of the range, offering premium features alongside its 161 km IDC range. The 450S 2.9 kWh, on the other hand, provided a more affordable entry point into the series. The newly introduced 3.7 kWh variant of the 450S bridges this divide, offering the same extended range as the flagship 450X at a more accessible price, thus widening the appeal for riders who value spirited performance and practical usability in equal measure.

The 450S 3.7 kWh continues the design language that has come to define Ather’s scooters. It sports a sharp, angular stance accentuated by a distinctive LED headlamp unit, offering a premium aesthetic that resonates with performance-focused riders. Despite the larger battery, the scooter maintains Ather’s signature build quality, with rigorous testing protocols ensuring reliability and refinement.

With its 5.4 kW motor delivering 22 Nm of torque, the 450S accelerates from 0–40 km/h in just 3.9 seconds and achieves a top speed of 90 km/h. This new variant remains true to the 450 series’ sporty DNA while offering the practicality of a 161 km IDC-certified range. Riders can switch between four riding modes – Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, and Sport – to suit their commuting needs or mood on any given day.

The 450S 3.7 kWh is equipped with a 7-inch DeepView™ Display that offers Bluetooth connectivity, automatic brightness control, and turn-by-turn navigation. The scooter is also packed with a host of advanced safety and convenience technologies, including AutoHold™, Fall Safe, Emergency Stop Signal, auto indicator cut-off, Tow & Theft Alerts, Find My Scooter, and Amazon Alexa Skills integration. These features are available through AtherStack™ Pro, with the scooter also supporting over-the-air (OTA) software updates to remain future-ready.

In terms of charging, Ather’s wide-reaching Grid network offers over 3,300 fast-charging stations across India. For home charging, the new variant can recharge from 0–80% in 4 hours and 30 minutes using Ather’s efficient home charging solution.

Buyers can opt for Ather’s ‘Eight70’ warranty programme, which covers the scooter for eight years or 80,000 kilometres (whichever comes first), ensuring a minimum of 70% battery health retention throughout the ownership period. Ather’s growing network of Experience Centres across India continues to offer sales, test rides, and after-sales support, ensuring a seamless customer journey.

Bookings for the Ather 450S 3.7 kWh are now open across India via Ather’s retail outlets and digital platforms. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in August 2025.
