The Super e-Platform has undergone a significant overhaul, with its key electric components – motor, electronic control, and battery – all receiving comprehensive upgrades when compared to previous configurations. This cutting-edge platform now boasts an impressive peak charging power of one megawatt (1,000 kW), setting a new benchmark for mass-production vehicles. In practical terms, this means the Super e-Platform can add an astonishing two kilometres of range per second, offering the world’s fastest mass-production charging speed. In just five minutes, drivers can recharge for a 400-kilometre driving range. The platform also features a 580 kW single power-motor output, enabling the two initial models – the HAN L and TANG L, both tailored for the Chinese market – to achieve top speeds exceeding 300 km/h. This remarkable performance is made possible by a newly developed motor capable of reaching up to 30,000 rpm, setting yet another groundbreaking standard for mass-produced electric vehicles. At the launch event in Shenzhen, Wang Chuanfu, Chairman and President of BYD Group, said the new technology would help to wipe out the biggest remaining ‘pain point’ for electric-vehicle users.
