In a significant development for the global SUV market, Nissan Motor India has officially announced the name and revealed the first glimpse of its forthcoming premium C-segment SUV – the All-New Nissan Tekton.

Derived from the Greek word for “craftsman” or “architect”, the name Tekton reflects Nissan’s deep commitment to precision, innovation, and purposeful design. Far more than a mere label, Tekton encapsulates a philosophy – one that celebrates individuals shaping the world around them through their careers, passions, and lifestyles.

This latest addition to Nissan’s global SUV portfolio is conceived as a bold, technologically advanced, and emotionally resonant offering. Designed to resonate with the discerning modern motorist, the Tekton represents engineering excellence, performance, and an unmistakable design language. It is set to be a cornerstone of Nissan’s global product vision.

Slated for a global launch in 2026, the Tekton is the second vehicle under Nissan’s ambitious ‘One Car, One World’ strategy. This strategy sees models developed in partnership with Renault at the Chennai manufacturing facility, not only for the domestic Indian market but also for export to select international markets.

Nissan has positioned the Tekton as a segment disruptor in the premium C-SUV category, signalling a new chapter in its design evolution and engineering capability.

The Tekton draws heavily on the heritage of one of Nissan’s most enduring and revered SUVs—the legendary Nissan Patrol. The design pays homage to the Patrol’s commanding presence while introducing a new visual language for the modern era.

At the front, the Tekton exudes strength with its assertively sculpted bonnet and signature C-shaped headlamps, echoing the aesthetic cues of the Patrol. A robust lower bumper further contributes to its assertive stance, establishing an imposing road presence that defies convention within its segment.

The side profile reveals a muscular, athletic stance, characterised by a strong beltline and chiseled proportions. A distinctive ‘Double-C’ accent on the front doors incorporates a stylised mountain motif, subtly inspired by the majestic Himalayas—blending natural grandeur with mechanical prowess.

To the rear, a sleek red lightbar spans the vehicle’s width, visually connecting the dynamic C-shaped tail-lamps. The Tekton name is elegantly inscribed across the tailgate, reinforcing its premium character and identity.

Alfonso Albaisa, Corporate Executive, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, offered insight into the design philosophy: The All-New Nissan Tekton draws its design inspiration from our legendary Nissan Patrol. It is designed to disrupt, dominate, and deliver everything today’s modern Indian consumer desires. Imposing, stylish, and built to set a new benchmark in India and beyond, the design and build quality are distinctly Nissan— embodying the best of Nissan’s SUV DNA.”

His remarks underscore the Tekton’s role as a product designed to meet both aspirational desires and functional demands, setting a new benchmark in its class.

Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, further elaborated on the strategic significance of the Tekton:
“The All-New Nissan Tekton is going to be at the centre of the Nissan’s resurgence story and offers a glimpse into the future of our product portfolio in the country. With its commanding stance, bold looks and premium interiors, we are confident that it will be a segment disruptor, appealing to customers seeking a robust yet refined C-SUV. This model will spearhead Nissan’s growth story in India.”

The Tekton is positioned not merely as a product launch but as a defining moment in Nissan’s growth trajectory in India. As part of this renewed momentum, Nissan Motor India is actively expanding its dealership footprint, signalling long-term commitment to the market and to Indian customers.

With its global design language, premium features, and an ethos that fuses craftsmanship with purpose, the All-New Nissan Tekton is poised to command attention across markets. As it edges closer to its 2026 debut, it promises to be a formidable new entry in the competitive C-SUV space – one that brings Nissan’s global excellence to the forefront of the Indian automotive landscape.
