At Volkswagen India’s annual brand conference 2024 last month, in Jaipur, the new GT Plus Sport and GT Line variants for the Taigun SUV in India were unveiled. Furthermore, the German brand democratised the Taigun range in three primary trims namely GT Edge, Chrome and Sport. Both the Taigun GT Plus Sport and Taigun GT Line were introduced under the Sports trims. Here’s a closer look at the newly launched variants of the Volkswagen Taigun.

Styled under the ‘Dark Black Theme', both the new variants are introduced with a plethora of exterior updates over the standard models of the Taigun. First things first, Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus Sport carries multiple exterior elements in black finish. To begin with, it flaunts smoked LED headlamps, Black coloured roof rails, Black coloured ORVMs, Black coloured window bar, Black coloured rear design strip, and Dark underbody spoiler. Riding on 17-inch Casino black alloy wheels, it gets a Carbon Steel coloured roof while GT Logo, front brake callipers and GT fender badge come in a red paint scheme. The rear end features Taigun lettering in black color on the boot lid with GT badging in red paintwork.

Coming to the Volkswagen Taigun GT Line, it is almost identical to the GT Plus Sport variant in terms of exterior styling. However, it misses out on the Red front brake callipers while the GT badging on the rear is replaced by GT Line logo at the front and rear fenders. It also carries a TSI badge on the boot lid.

The GT Plus Sport variant is introduced with a glossy black dashboard and edgy inserts. It boasts of red stitching on the steering wheel and front centre armrest. The seats are adorned with Black leatherette covers with red coloured stitching. The black theme continues in the cabin even on multiple other components such as grab-handles, sunvisor, A,B and C-Pillars, roof lamp housing, and sunvisor holder.

As for the Taigun GT Line, it also gets the identical cabin layout with black elements. The only difference is that red coloured stitching on the steering wheel, seat covers and front centre armrest is replaced by Crystal Grey coloured stitching.

The Taigun GT Plus Sport is powered by the 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged TSI EVO petrol engine which dishes out top power of 148 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard while the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox will be on offer as an option. On the other hand, Volkswagen Taigun GT Line packs the 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI turbo-petrol mill which generates maximum power of 113 bhp and highest torque of 178 Nm. It can be availed with a choice of multiple transmissions in the form of 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic.

Volkswagen India has already started bookings for the Taigun GT Plus Sport and Taigun GT Line. The pricing is expected to be announced in the coming few days when deliveries of both these newly introduced variants starts in India.

The Taigun GT Plus Sport and Taigun GT Line will challenge the Kia Seltos X-Line, Hyundai Creta N Line and Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo edition in the Indian market.
