Ather Energy, the Bengaluru-based EV startup and now one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler makers has already introduced the Ather 450 range of scooters which are quite popular among the youth for daily commuting. Now, the EV maker has introduced its family scooter in the form of ‘Rizta’ at the second edition of the Ather Community Day on April 6, 2024. Ather Rizta focuses on comfort, safety and convenience and is designed, engineered and developed as a complete family scooter. The company has revealed a lot of details about the new electric scooter, including its variants, price, features and range. Here’s a look at the newly introduced Ather Rizta…

The Rizta e-scooter has been offered in two trims and gets a total of three variants. The entry-level Rizta S trim comes with a 2.9 kWh battery pack, and is priced at INR 1.10 lakh. The mid-spec Rizta Z, packs a 2.9 kWh battery and comes at a sticker price of INR 1.25 lakh. Last but not the least, the range-topping Rizta Z with a bigger 3.7 kWh battery attracts a price tag of INR 1.45 lakh. All the aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, Bengaluru. The bookings for the e-scooter are now open and the first deliveries are scheduled to begin from June 2024.

First things first, the Rizta gets a boxy design as compared to the sharp and angular styling of the 450 range. The Rizta claims to have the biggest seat in the segment and the footboard seems to be quite large too. The company has equipped it with a backrest to provide support to the pillion rider. The Rizta gets an underseat storage capacity of 34 litres besides the frunk space of 22L, which comes as an optional accessory. The Rizta flaunts a rectangular LED headlamp upfront and the rear end boasts of a wraparound horizontal LED tail lamp cluster with integrated turn indicators. The Rizta rides on 12-inch alloy wheels. 

Taking forward the design philosophy of the 450 range of electric scooters, the Rizta which has a smaller wheelbase of 1286 mm, features a low center of gravity and equal balance on either side to ensure optimum control at higher speeds. The Rizta S is available in three monotone colours while the Rizta Z is available in seven colors which includes 3 monotone and 4 dual tone colours.

There are plenty of advanced as well as modern features on the Rizta electric scooter such as the class-leading SkidControl (traction control) and WhatsApp on the large touchscreen infotainment screen. Buyers can also opt for a 18W multi-purpose charger as an optional accessory in the underseat storage area to charge various electronic appliances such as their Smartphones, Tablets and other gadgets. 

Ather Rizta is offered with two battery packs: 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh. The smaller battery is available on the base and mid-level variants and they get an IDC range of 123 km while the bigger battery comes with the range-topping variant which returns a range of 160 km on a single charge. All the variants have a fixed top speed of 80 kmph while two riding modes are standard in the form of Zip and SmartEco.

Ather Energy is providing a 350W Ather portable charger with the Rizta S and Rizta Z, which house the smaller 2.9 kWh battery pack. On the other hand, the top-end Rizta Z with 3.7 kWh battery is sold with a 700W new Ather Duo charger. Additionally, the scooter owners can use Ather's network of 1800+ fast charging stations across the country.

Some of the major safety features onboard are FallSafe, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Theft & Tow Detect, MagicTwist, AutoHold, Reverse Mode and Find My Scooter. All of these features have already been made available on the Ather 450 series as well.
