JSW MG Motor India claims second place in Luxury EV segment with Cyberster & M9 success

Showing great momentum, JSW MG Motor India, has risen to claim the second-largest position in India’s luxury electric-vehicle (EV) segment. This achievement is underpinned by the resounding success of its two halo models, the MG Cyberster and the MG M9 Presidential Limousine, which together have fuelled not just buyers imagination, but also a growing demand, thereby leading to elite buyer interest.

In a significant development for premium mobility in India, JSW MG Motor India has established itself as the second-largest brand in the luxury EV segment, according to data for September 2025. This landmark was achieved by the combined success of two standout models – the MG Cyberster roadster and the MG M9 Presidential Limousine – both of which continue to command a waiting period of three to four months.

Milind Shah, Interim Head of MG SELECT, remarked: “Securing the second spot in India’s luxury EV segment is a testament to the phenomenal response our models have received. Both the MG Cyberster and the MG M9 Presidential Limousine are drawing discerning customers who seek something truly exclusive, whether it’s the sheer exhilaration of open-top performance or the presence of uncompromising luxury. At MG SELECT, we’re proud to create this exclusive ownership experience.”

At the heart of this ascent is the MG Cyberster, launched in July 2025, which the company asserts has become India’s highest-selling sports car, with 256 units sold through the MG SELECT channel in just two months. Under its sculptural, aerodynamic bodywork – complete with electric scissor doors, soft-top roof, and an advanced drag-coefficient design – the car delivers a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup that generates 510 PS and 725 Nm of torque, enabling 0-100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. The specification is complemented by aesthetic and mechanical sophistication: Brembo four-piston front brake calipers, Pirelli P-Zero tyres mounted on 20-inch staggered alloys and a stopping distance from 100 km/h in 33 metres.

Meanwhile, the MG M9 Presidential Limousine serves a distinctly different clientele: high-net-worth buyers, business leaders and institutional clients seeking a chauffeur-driven expression of electric luxury. Its presence further consolidates JSW MG’s positioning in the upper echelons of the EV market.

Complementing the product push, JSW MG has launched 14 MG SELECT Experience Centres across key cities, aimed at offering a “sensorial experience” to luxury EV buyers. These centres showcase the Cyberster and M9 models in an environment of personalised service, innovation, and sustainable luxury.

The broader significance of this achievement lies in the fact that the luxury EV segment remains relatively nascent in India. By carving out a leading position at this early stage, JSW MG is setting a benchmark for how premium electric mobility can be marketed and sold domestically. The three-to-four-month waiting period for both models signals robust demand and a strong pipeline.

As the company continues to scale, its success with these flagship models can potentially translate into broader brand halo effects for its entire EV portfolio. With luxury-roadster and limousine propositions now firmly in market, competition from established European marques is likely to intensify.

JSW MG Motor India’s elevation to the second-spot in the luxury EV segment is both a milestone and a marker of ambition. With the MG Cyberster and MG M9 as catalysts, the brand has demonstrated that electric mobility need not compromise on performance or luxury. As waiting lists build and showrooms multiply, the race for the top in India’s luxury EV market is distinctly on.
