At this year’s Professional MotorSport World Expo 2025, global automotive innovator Marelli achieved a remarkable double triumph, securing two coveted awards for its groundbreaking contributions to the future of racing technology. The Italian-Japanese company took home top honours for its all-electric front axle, the Race E-volution 500, and for its pioneering High-Speed Camera 130 — both heralding a new era of performance and intelligence in motorsport.

Held at the Koelnmesse exhibition centre on 12 and 13 November, the Professional MotorSport World Expo has long been regarded as one of the world’s most influential showcases for motorsport technology. Amid the throng of elite manufacturers and racing suppliers, Marelli stood out with an impressive display of innovation and technical depth at its booth, where visitors discovered how the company is redefining the parameters of electric performance and data-driven engineering.

Crowned Powertrain Technology of the Year, the Race E-volution 500 exemplifies Marelli’s approach to electrification in competition environments. This fully electric, ultra-compact front axle delivers 350 kW of power while weighing just 57 kg — translating to an outstanding power-to-weight ratio. Compact yet ferociously capable, the system’s 19-litre volume makes it ideally suited to the packaging constraints of elite racing machines.

The innovation’s combination of power, efficiency and packaging excellence also earned it the title of Overall Engineering Innovation of the Year, a testament to Marelli’s ability to balance performance with sustainability in an era when electrification is reshaping the very fabric of motorsport.

Alongside its award-winning e-axle, Marelli offered a preview of its forthcoming HSC-130, a high-speed camera system designed to elevate data analysis and driver-safety monitoring. Compact, lightweight and AI-enabled, the unit captures up to 500 frames per second at one-megapixel resolution — enabling engineers to analyse vehicle dynamics and driver response in exceptional detail, regardless of lighting conditions.

The HSC-130 marks Marelli’s next step towards smarter, more integrated racing systems where real-time imaging and artificial intelligence work in concert to enhance both safety and performance.

Beyond its headline technologies, Marelli’s stand at PMW Expo 2025 presented the company’s broader ecosystem of performance solutions — from ECUs, dashboards and telemetry systems, to Smart Antennas, data loggers, fuel pumps, ignition coils and GDI injectors, also designed for two-wheel racing.

Its AI-powered control units drew particular attention, especially the acclaimed VEC-480, recipient of the Innovation of the Year 2024 title, and the newly introduced VEC-200. Both systems harness edge intelligence for lightning-fast data processing, offering teams a decisive edge in vehicle management and predictive analytics.

For Marelli, the twin victories at PMW Expo 2025 represent far more than trophies; they underscore the company’s stature as one of motorsport’s most forward-thinking suppliers. By blending electrification, artificial intelligence and precision engineering, Marelli is not merely responding to motorsport’s evolution — it is actively driving it.

As championship series worldwide accelerate their transition to electric and hybrid formats, the Race E-volution 500 and HSC-130 stand as benchmarks of what’s next: lighter, faster, smarter, and relentlessly efficient.

With innovation coursing through every element of its motorsport portfolio, Marelli’s achievement in Cologne cements its reputation as a global powerhouse – a brand as committed to performance as it is to progress.
