Musashi India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Musashi Seimitsu Industries, Japan, and a globally recognised leader in precision automotive systems, has marked a significant milestone in its Indian journey by inaugurating the Musashi Technology Excellence Centre (MTEC) at the Atria University Campus in Bengaluru. This new facility, dedicated to research and development as well as prototyping for new energy storage systems and electric mobility technologies, commemorates the company’s 23rd year of operations in India.
Strategically aligned with Musashi’s long-term vision for sustainable innovation, the MTEC underscores the brand’s enduring commitment to India’s rapidly evolving automotive landscape and its Net Zero 2030 ambitions.
Conceived as a high-performance innovation hub, the centre will focus on testing and validating cutting-edge technologies developed by Musashi Global, in close collaboration with its international network of partners and vendors. The facility not only reinforces Musashi’s focus on indigenous product development but also underlines India’s growing stature as a global hub for clean mobility solutions.
In its inaugural year, Musashi India has allocated an investment of approximately INR 100 million for MTEC’s establishment. The development is planned in multiple phases, with both infrastructure and human capital expected to grow in tandem as the centre scales operations.
Tailored to serve the unique demands of the Indian market, the facility will play a crucial role in the rapid prototyping and localisation of technologies. Its strategic mandate includes accelerating time to market for advanced energy storage solutions while enabling sustainable product development through India’s robust manufacturing ecosystem.
Reflecting on this landmark occasion, Mr. Naoya Nishimura, CEO of Musashi India and Africa Region, stated: “Musashi India’s journey began in 2002 with a single customer, and we have since grown steadily, expanding our presence and partnerships with the top automotive OEMs in the country. Our progress has been driven by the strong foundation laid by our predecessors. As we look ahead, it is time to evolve into a truly Indian operation, grounded in our core values of customer-first and ownership. Musashi India is proudly Indian, and its future depends on the leadership and initiative of each member of our team. The establishment of MTEC is a step towards building the number one operation in India, and I believe we will achieve it together.”
The MTEC is poised to become a magnet for top-tier engineering talent, particularly in fields such as electrochemistry and data science. This will further deepen Musashi’s R&D footprint in India and facilitate the design and development of energy storage systems tailored to the country’s specific mobility needs.
From battery technologies to hybrid supercapacitors, MTEC will benefit from the synergies of Musashi Energy Solutions’ manufacturing expertise and the strategic oversight of Musashi Seimitsu Industries in Japan. These capabilities will support Musashi India in its aim to localise production while reducing developmental timelines and reinforcing sustainability.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the new facility, Mr. Masaru Maeda, Chief E-Mobility Officer, Musashi Seimitsu Industries, remarked: “The launch of the Musashi Technology Excellence Centre marks a pivotal moment in our global e-mobility journey. India is a key market for next-generation energy solutions, and with MTEC, we are strengthening our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and localized product development. We look forward to accelerating new breakthroughs that serve both Indian and global needs.”
As one of the fastest-growing mobility markets in the world, India stands at the cusp of a technological transformation. With the establishment of MTEC in Bengaluru, Musashi India reaffirms its commitment to playing a leading role in shaping that future—driven by innovation, informed by sustainability, and anchored in localisation.
