Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has officially initiated production of the new Volkswagen Taigun at its advanced manufacturing facility in Pune, marking a decisive step forward in the Group’s ‘Make in India, for India and the world’ vision. The development highlights a robust blend of localisation, engineering precision, and an evolving understanding of Indian consumer expectations.
Building upon the established success of its predecessor, the new Volkswagen Taigun arrives with a sharper design language and a more contemporary visual identity. The latest iteration introduces a distinctly edgier aesthetic complemented by premium feature enhancements. Engineered to tackle India’s diverse driving conditions, the SUV continues to embody Volkswagen’s core ethos of European driving dynamics, refined comfort, and uncompromising 5-star safety standards.
Commenting on the milestone, Piyush Arora, Managing Director & CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited, said, “The start of production of the new Volkswagen Taigun underscores the maturity of our world-class manufacturing ecosystem in India. Since its debut in 2021, the Volkswagen Taigun has steadily carved a reputation for dynamic performance, refined comfort, and robust safety credentials, establishing itself as a compelling choice across both domestic and international markets. To date, more than 143,000 units have been produced in India, with approximately 30 percent earmarked for export to global markets.
With production of the updated model now underway, Volkswagen is poised to further consolidate its position in the competitive SUV segment, offering a product that harmonises design sophistication, everyday practicality, comfort, and engaging performance.
