Nissan Motor India has officially announced the commencement of Phase 2 in the rollout of its CNG retrofitment kit for the popular New Nissan Magnite compact SUV. The environmentally conscious CNG option is now available through authorised Nissan dealerships in Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu.
This strategic expansion follows the initial Phase 1 launch, which saw the retrofitment solution introduced in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, and Karnataka. With the latest additions, the Magnite CNG retrofitment kit is now available in a total of 13 states across the country, as preparations for Phase 3 are currently underway.
The move comes in direct response to rising customer interest in sustainable and affordable mobility solutions. The retrofitment kit has been developed, manufactured, and rigorously tested by Motozen—a government-certified third-party vendor. Installation is conducted at government-authorised fitment centres using a fully homologated kit, ensuring compliance with prevailing safety norms and local regulations. Motozen offers a comprehensive warranty of 3 years or 1 lakh kilometres on all kit components.
Offered at a competitive price of INR 74,999, the CNG retrofitment kit is fully compatible with the New Nissan Magnite’s 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual transmission. Notably, the SUV retains its impressive 336-litre boot capacity, one of the largest in its class, despite the retrofitment—maintaining its practicality and appeal.
Since the launch of Phase 1, feedback from customers and results from third-party testing have pointed to a marked improvement in fuel efficiency compared to the standard petrol variant, further enhancing the vehicle’s overall value proposition.
Commenting on the rollout, Mr Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said:
“The New Nissan Magnite continues to be a key growth driver for us in India, and we’re committed to expanding its relevance in line with evolving customer needs. The Phase 2 rollout of our CNG retrofitment option reflects both the growing demand for cleaner mobility and our intent to offer credible, high-quality alternatives without compromising on the core strengths of the Magnite. With government-certified kits, authorised fitment, and extensive dealer network, this initiative enhances the Magnite’s value proposition while reinforcing our focus on accessible, sustainable solutions.”
The New Nissan Magnite remains a compelling contender in the compact SUV market, boasting a bold and dynamic design, over 20 segment-first or best-in-class features, and more than 55 safety features. With its assertive road presence and premium interiors, the Magnite has extended its global footprint and is now available in over 65 countries, including both Right-Hand Drive and Left-Hand Drive markets.
As Nissan continues to evolve its portfolio in alignment with customer expectations and environmental priorities, the expansion of the CNG retrofitment programme signals a significant step forward in the brand’s commitment to accessible, sustainable, and reliable urban mobility.
