Takashi Nakajima named HCIL President & CEO effective April 1, 2025

Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced the appointment of Takashi Nakajima as the new President and CEO of Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), effective from April 1, 2025. This change is part of the company’s customary annual management reshuffle. Nakajima will succeed Takuya Tsumura, who will return to Honda’s headquarters in Japan after completing a highly successful tenure in India. Over the course of his three-year leadership, Tsumura played a pivotal role in consolidating Honda’s premium brand positioning within the Indian market. His tenure was marked by a strong focus on customer-centric solutions and sustained profitable growth for the company. Under his stewardship, Honda introduced a series of premium models, including India’s first mainstream hybrid vehicle, the Honda City e:HEV, alongside the global SUV Elevate, the all-new third-generation Amaze, and laid the groundwork for Honda’s first Battery Electric Vehicle in India. Furthermore, HCIL saw significant expansion in its export operations, including the first export of the Made-in-India Elevate to Japan. Tsumura’s emphasis on modern communication strategies also led to numerous integrated marketing campaigns designed to engage a wide range of consumers. In addition, his focus on operational efficiency, both at the corporate and dealership levels, contributed to enhanced customer experiences
