Kinetic Engineering revives iconic DX as an Electric Scooter

Kinetic Engineering Ltd. (KEL), a name long synonymous with innovation and practical engineering excellence in India’s automotive landscape, has made a distinguished return to the two-wheeler segment. The company has unveiled the all-new Kinetic DX EV, a proudly made-in-India electric scooter range, through its dedicated electric vehicle arm, Kinetic Watts and Volts Ltd. (KWV).

An icon revered by generations for its distinctive silhouette and everyday practicality, the original DX scooter now returns in a thoroughly modern, electric avatar. Meticulously designed in collaboration with renowned Italian designers, the Kinetic DX EV evokes the spirit of the original while embracing the demands of modern urban mobility. With its refined proportions and thoughtful features, the DX has been reimagined as a true family vehicle for the electric age.

Speaking on the vision behind this bold revival, Ajinkya Firodia, Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, commented, “The legendary Kinetic DX set so many firsts back in the ’90s, that it earned a permanent place in the hearts of millions. The Kinetic DX EV series has been engineered to deliver accessible, dependable and intelligent electric commuting. In a strategic move that underscores the brand’s commitment to scale, Kinetic Watts and Volts has already received an infusion of INR 72 crore in capital from KEL and its promoters. Further solidifying this intent, an additional INR 177 crore has been pledged to KEL, with a substantial portion directed toward the expansion of the DX platform.

Kinetic has announced that initial bookings for the DX are limited to just 35,000 units, with deliveries scheduled to commence in September 2025. Interested buyers can secure their booking at a nominal fee of INR 1,000 via the official website, www.kineticev.in.

The Kinetic DX is priced at INR 1,11,499 while the more feature-rich Kinetic DX+ is available at INR 1,17,499 (both ex-showroom, Pune). The DX+ variant will be offered in five elegant colours—Red, Blue, White, Silver, and Black—while the DX will be available in classic Silver and Black hues.
