COIMBATORE
The second round of the JK Tyre Racing Championship 2025 unfolded in spectacular fashion at the Kari Motor Speedway, delivering a weekend brimming with high-octane action, emerging talent and sheer racing drama. Set against a backdrop of unpredictable weather — from overcast skies and sudden showers to gusty winds — the event showcased India’s most promising young racers alongside seasoned veterans, all united under the prestigious banner of JK Tyre Motorsport.
From the eagerly awaited debut of the JK Tyre Levitas Cup to the ever-popular Royal Enfield Continental GT Cupand the JK Tyre Novice Cup, this round once again affirmed JK Tyre’s pivotal role in fostering grassroots motorsport and nurturing the future stars of Indian racing.
Levitas Cup Debut: Jai Prashanth Venkat Shines Amid Stormy Skies
The weekend’s standout performance came from Coimbatore’s own Jai Prashanth Venkat, who exhibited both poise and precision in the cockpit of the newly introduced Maruti Ignis Levitas Cup car. After a steady start on Saturday, he rose to the occasion on Sunday, seizing victory in the final race with a commanding time of 14:38.492 over 10 laps of the 2.3 km circuit. His fastest lap — 1:26.100 — underscored his potential in this single-make format designed to level the playing field and promote raw talent.
Venkat’s most memorable moment came during a riveting duel with Mira Erda, a motorsport stalwart and guest driver for the weekend. Mira, celebrating over 15 years in the sport, finished on the podium in all four races, stating: “I am thrilled I could go strong. This car is a delight, even though it is new. There are enough safety features in it, including a roll cage, which makes it good.”

Meanwhile, Nihal Singh, a 10th-grade student from Gurugram, demonstrated incredible promise with a stellar debut, transitioning seamlessly from karting. Though mechanical gremlins hampered his progress on Sunday, his victory in Race 1 and raw pace were undeniable indicators of future potential.
Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup: Fierce Rivalries and Fine Margins
The Royal Enfield Continental GT Cup, presented by JK Tyre, added muscle and drama to the weekend. Racing on powerful café racers, the competition was headlined by Navaneeth Kumar and Anish D Shetty, whose rivalry reached a crescendo in Race 3. In a thrilling finish, Navaneeth edged out Anish by a mere 2/1000th of a second, clocking 13:21.934. “I am thrilled, but must admit I was lucky to win such a close race,” admitted Navaneeth, reflecting the fierce competitiveness of the series.
Amidst the professionals, a group of amateurs also impressed. Johring Warisa, hailing from the scenic town of Umrangso in Assam, made his circuit racing debut and progressed rapidly over the weekend, eventually standing on the amateur podium — a reflection of the event’s ‘Street to Circuit’ philosophy of scouting and shaping untapped talent from across the nation.
JK Tyre Novice Cup: A Glimpse Into India’s Racing Future
The JK Tyre Novice Cup, the proving ground for the sport’s freshest faces, featured three fiercely contested races. Bhuvan Bonu of MSPORT emerged the standout performer, taking two emphatic victories (Race 1 – 16:06.951, Race 3 – 16:26.624), while Abhijit Vadavalli of Momentum Motorsports made his mark with a commanding win in Race 2, stopping the clock at 14:23.860.
The Novice Cup continues to serve as a launchpad for India’s next-generation racers, with podium finishes for Vinith Kumar M, Lokithlingeash Ravi, and others highlighting the growing depth of motorsport talent in the country.
