The Indian Racing Festival is gearing up for an exhilarating Round 3 this weekend, set against the challenging backdrop of Coimbatore’s renowned Kari Motor Speedway. Following a brief mid-season hiatus, the championship returns, its momentum undiminished, after thrilling opening rounds in Chennai and Coimbatore. With the battle for supremacy intensifying and rivalries reaching a fever pitch, this event promises an action-packed weekend, sure to captivate fans and motorsport enthusiasts alike.
At the heart of the action is the Indian Racing League (IRL), the franchise-based series that has garnered significant attention this season. Alongside it, the Formula 4 Indian Championship and the JK Tyre National Racing Championship – LGB Formula 4 (JKNRC – LGB F4) will provide fans with a weekend filled with high-octane racing. The JK Tyre National Racing Championship, now in its 28th consecutive year, holds the distinction of being the longest-running racing series in the country, a testament to the unwavering commitment of its organisers and participants.
The Formula LGB4, a key feature of the championship, has evolved significantly since its inception, benefiting from continuous technological advancements. This long-standing commitment to innovation and excellence continues to shape the trajectory of motorsport in India.
In the Indian Racing League, the competition for the top spot is nothing short of electrifying. The Hyderabad Blackbirds, led by the accomplished Jon Lancaster (UK) and featuring Akshay Bohra, Gabriela Jilkova (Czechia), and Mohamed Ryan, currently hold the slenderest of advantages with 51 points. However, they are being closely pursued by the Speed Demons Delhi, a mere point behind on 50, determined to seize any opportunity to take the lead. Not far behind, the Kolkata Royal Tigers sit in third place with 49 points, ensuring that the championship remains a fiercely contested three-way battle. With margins razor-thin and pressure mounting, the upcoming rounds at Kari Motor Speedway will prove pivotal in the quest for the title.

The contrasting nature of Coimbatore’s Kari Motor Speedway and Chennai’s Madras International Circuit has already provided its share of surprises. In the season opener, Raoul Hyman adapted quickly to the Coimbatore circuit on Day 1, only for Sai Sanjay of Speed Demons Delhi to showcase his remarkable pace on Day 2. The Coimbatore circuit is renowned for its tight layout and unpredictable weather conditions, which leaves little room for error. With temperatures shifting and the possibility of rain always looming, drivers must combine both tactical nous and raw skill to stay ahead. In such conditions, the championship’s frontrunners are acutely aware that even the slightest misstep could prove costly in this high-pressure contest.
Reflecting on the season thus far, Akhilesh Reddy, Chairman and Managing Director of RPPL, said: “With two rounds completed, we’ve seen encouraging growth in competitiveness and fan engagement this season. Returning to the Kari Motor Speedway is always special.”
Looking ahead to Round 3, Reddy remarked, “The circuit offers unique challenges and has a strong connection with Indian motorsport, making it the perfect stage for Round 3. This round, we expect the competition to reach new heights with closer battles across all three championships, unpredictable weather adding to the drama, and an even larger fan turnout that will make the atmosphere at Kari truly electrifying.”
Reddy went on to highlight the broader vision for the Indian Racing Festival: “Our mission is to nurture homegrown talent and create a sustainable ecosystem at par with international standards. The strong response so far shows that India is ready for a motorsport culture of its own, and we are committed to positioning the Indian Racing Festival as a marquee event on the global calendar.”
This unmissable weekend of speed, strategy, and spectacle will feature two exciting races in the Indian Racing League (IRL), four intense contests in the Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4 IC), and three gripping showdowns in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship – LGB Formula 4 (JKNRC – LGB F4). Fans can expect thrilling wheel-to-wheel battles, dramatic last-lap deciders, and a title race that continues to intensify with each passing round.
For those looking to experience the action in person, tickets are available through District by Zomato, offering fans the chance to witness the heart-pounding excitement live from the stands. For those unable to attend, the races will be broadcast live on Star Sports Select 2 and JIO Hotstar, ensuring that motorsport enthusiasts won’t miss a moment of the action.
The Indian Racing Festival 2025 is powered by JK Tyre Motorsport, with fuel partner Nayara Energy, performance partner Mobil1, and hydration sponsor Bisleri.
The Kari Motor Speedway once again stands poised to deliver a weekend of unforgettable motorsport action. With fierce competition, rapidly evolving rivalries, and the ever-present spectre of unpredictable weather, Round 3 of the Indian Racing Festival is set to be a defining moment in this exhilarating season.
