Ather Energy Limited, widely regarded as India’s foremost electric two-wheeler innovator, has announced a pivotal milestone in its manufacturing journey—the production of its 5,00,000th vehicle. The landmark vehicle, a unit of the brand’s highly successful family scooter Rizta, rolled off the assembly line at Ather’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.

Since its introduction last year, the Rizta has firmly established itself as a cornerstone in Ather’s product portfolio, contributing significantly to the company’s recent production volumes. In just a year, it has come to account for over one-third of total output, underscoring its popularity amongst urban and semi-urban consumers alike.

Commenting on the achievement, Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Ather Energy, remarked, “Crossing 5,00,000 scooters is a major milestone for Ather. From our very first prototype to today, our journey has been about building not just vehicles, but a scalable, reliable, and consistent manufacturing ecosystem. This achievement reflects years of focused engineering, rigorous testing, and meticulous attention to quality at every stage of production. It also highlights the dedication of teams across the company and the trust and support of our owner community, who have been with us throughout this journey.”

Ather’s growth trajectory has been reinforced by an increasingly diversified portfolio of both performance-oriented and family-focused electric scooters. In recent months, the company has intensified its market presence in North and Central India, strategically targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities while continuing to expand in established metro markets.

Currently, Ather operates two dedicated facilities in Hosur—one for vehicle assembly and the other for battery production. With a combined capacity of 4,20,000 units per annum, these plants have been the foundation of Ather’s scale-up efforts.

To accommodate rising demand and further bolster its manufacturing footprint, Ather has embarked on the development of its third production facility. Situated in Bidkin, AURIC (Aurangabad Industrial City), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Maharashtra, the upcoming “Factory 3.0” will be constructed in two phases and will be guided by the principles of Industry 4.0. This advanced facility will incorporate cutting-edge digital and automated technologies to streamline production.

Once fully operational, the new plant will significantly enhance Ather’s annual production capacity—taking its total installed capacity across all facilities to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers. This expansion reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the electric mobility transition at scale while maintaining its hallmark focus on quality, performance, and innovation.
