NEW DELHI

Ducati India has officially announced the launch of the Desmo450 MX, the Italian marque’s first-ever motocross motorcycle, signalling a historic step into India’s expanding off-road motorcycling segment. Developed and rigorously tested on the competitive circuits of the MXGP World Championship, the Desmo450 MX arrives as a production machine deeply rooted in Ducati’s racing DNA, engineered to deliver exhilarating performance for both professional riders and passionate amateur enthusiasts across the country.

The arrival of the Desmo450 MX underscores Ducati’s intent to broaden its appeal among riders seeking high-performance off-road machines while maintaining the brand’s unmistakable engineering pedigree.

At the heart of the Desmo450 MX lies a distinctive 449.6 cc Ducati single-cylinder engine featuring Desmodromic distribution—an engineering hallmark rarely seen in the motocross world. This advanced setup allows the engine to deliver an exceptionally broad and usable powerband, blending strong torque at low-to-mid revs with impressive top-end extension.

Designed to be powerful, lightweight, and accessible to ride, the motorcycle aims to strike an ideal balance between performance and controllability—attributes that are crucial in competitive motocross environments.

Complementing the engine is a suite of sophisticated electronics, including a highly advanced traction control system that enhances rider confidence and enables them to push harder on challenging terrain.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Bipul Chandra, Managing Director at Ducati India, said, “The arrival of the Desmo450 MX is a landmark moment for Ducati in India. We have seen a growing passion for off-road and motocross motorcycling in the country, and we are thrilled to enter this exciting segment with a product that is pure, state-of-the-art Ducati performance. The Desmo450 MX is a testament to our racing heritage and our commitment to providing Indian riders with the most advanced and capable Ducati motorcycles in the world. We are confident that this bike will not only speak to a new generation of motorcyclists but will also expand the Ducatisti community in India into newer territories of motocross adventure.”

The Desmo450 MX also heralds the beginning of an entirely new range of specialist off-road motorcycles from Ducati. Its lightweight aluminium frame has been engineered with minimal welds, a design approach intended to enhance structural strength, rigidity, and overall agility—key attributes for demanding motocross conditions.

In a significant technological leap for the segment, the Desmo450 MX introduces advanced electronics rarely seen on motocross machines. Notably, it becomes the first motocross motorcycle in the world equipped with traction control that precisely measures rear wheel slip and activates only when necessary. This intelligent intervention ensures that the system supports the rider without compromising the motorcycle’s performance.

The Ducati Desmo450 MX has been introduced in India at an introductory ex-showroom price of INR 17,23,600. The motorcycle will be retailed through four select Ducati dealerships across the country: Ducati New Delhi, Ducati VFM Bengaluru, Ducati Chennai, and Ducati Pune.

Bookings for the motocross machine are now open, with deliveries scheduled to commence by the end of March 2026.

To enhance personalisation, Ducati will offer an extensive range of accessories through its Ducati Performance catalogue. Riders can opt for Factory-grade components including machined wheel hubs, triple clamps, a complete Akrapovič titanium exhaust system, and Brembo Racing brake calipers.

In addition, a dedicated technical apparel collection—created with Drudi Performance and featuring Alpinestars—will be available, enabling riders to complete the distinctive Factory-inspired look.

With the Desmo450 MX, Ducati not only enters the motocross arena but also introduces a new dimension of off-road performance for Indian riders eager to experience the brand’s race-bred engineering beyond the tarmac.
