NEW DELHI
In a significant stride towards strengthening India’s electric mobility ecosystem, Charge_iN by Mahindra has entered into a strategic collaboration with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) to establish Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) across the latter’s extensive fuel station network nationwide.
The partnership will see Charge_iN by Mahindra leverage HPCL’s vast retail footprint to accelerate the deployment of EV charging infrastructure, with the overarching objective of enhancing the ownership experience for electric vehicle users while catalysing wider EV adoption across the country.
HPCL, among India’s largest state-owned oil and gas enterprises, operates an expansive network of over 24,400 retail outlets and already manages more than 5,400 electric vehicle charging stations under its HP e-Charge brand. This formidable infrastructure base positions the company as a pivotal enabler in the country’s transition to cleaner mobility solutions.
The agreement assumes considerable strategic importance at a time when India is rapidly advancing towards green transportation. HPCL’s established nationwide presence offers a robust platform for the swift rollout of EV charging infrastructure, ensuring both scale and accessibility in equal measure.
Charge_iN by Mahindra, an integral pillar of the company’s vision to UNLIMIT electric mobility, is focused on developing an ultrafast charging network. This initiative is closely aligned with the Government of India’s ambition to bolster public EV charging infrastructure. Notably, the upcoming charging stations under this collaboration will be equipped exclusively with 180 kW dual gun chargers, engineered to deliver faster, more convenient, and highly reliable charging solutions tailored for electric four-wheelers.
This cooperation marks the next phase in Charge_iN by Mahindra’s concerted efforts to establish a comprehensive EV ecosystem in India. It is widely regarded as a critical step towards achieving the broader objective of mainstream electric vehicle adoption while advancing sustainable mobility in the world’s third-largest automotive market.
