In a move set to reshape the Indian electric two-wheeler market, Ola Electric has announced a strategic price reduction for its Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh. The adjustment, stemming from accelerated economies of scale at its domestic Gigafactory and deep vertical integration of the indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell, will make the high-performance electric motorcycle more accessible to discerning buyers.

The Roadster 9.1 kWh, renowned for its exceptional range of up to 500 km, will now retail at INR 1,29,999, down from INR 1,89,999. Reflecting the company’s commitment to measured growth, Ola Electric will transition from an open sales model to a limited purchase window approach. The first window opens on Friday, April 3, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with subsequent windows announced in alignment with production availability.

An Ola Electric spokesperson commented, “As production of our 4680 Bharat Cell scales, we are able to unlock significant cost efficiencies and pass them on directly to customers. The response to the Roadster has been extremely strong – the bike demand during our #EndICEAge campaign has grown more than 5X, and this new pricing makes long range electric mobility even more accessible.”

The past year has witnessed rapid scaling of the 4680 Bharat Cell, designed and manufactured entirely in India. As production ramps up, costs have fallen, enabling the company to extend these savings directly to its customers. Simultaneously, Ola Electric is expanding its Gigafactory toward a 6 GWh capacity, reinforcing its commitment to nurturing a robust domestic battery ecosystem while further reducing costs through vertical integration.

This pricing announcement follows a period of notable business resurgence. In March, Ola Electric recorded over 10,000 registrations, marking a month-on-month increase exceeding 150%, with daily orders surpassing 1,000 units during the last week. Market share has similarly rebounded sharply, underpinned by structural improvements in service operations and a markedly enhanced ownership experience.

As India advances its goal of reducing reliance on imported crude, Ola Electric remains resolutely focused on advancing battery technology and accelerating EV adoption across the nation.
