JSW MG Motor India has announced that India’s first D+ segment SUV, the MG Majestor, has secured a prestigious Guinness World Records title for “Heaviest Train Pulled by a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) on Rail.” In a compelling display of engineering excellence, the SUV successfully hauled a 406.4-tonne train across a distance of 300 feet on a secured railway stretch between Kakapora and Awantipora railway stations in Jammu and Kashmir.
This achievement not only meets but surpasses the stringent Guinness World Records qualifying benchmarks of 400 tonnes and 100 feet, thereby establishing a new global standard for SUV capability.
Notably, the MG Majestor deployed for this record attempt remained a standard production model, devoid of any modifications to its engine, drivetrain, or traction systems. The feat subjected the vehicle to extreme load conditions, rigorously evaluating its traction management, torque delivery, and structural integrity.
At the heart of the MG Majestor lies a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine, producing 215.5 PS and 478.5 Nm of torque. The SUV executed the pull with measured progression and unwavering composure, reinforcing its credentials as one of the most capable and resilient SUVs globally.
The attempt was meticulously monitored by independent automotive and motorsport experts to ensure adherence to Guinness World Records protocols. Key conditions included:
- The train movement was solely powered by the MG Majestor
- No external propulsion or assistance was applied
- The vehicle maintained stable, controlled performance across the entire distance
All critical parameters, including train weight, track conditions, and distance, were professionally documented. The train—comprising a WAG-9HC locomotive, passenger coaches, and a guard coach—was independently verified at 406 tonnes.
“This achievement is a powerful demonstration of what the MG MAJESTOR is engineered to deliver. It reflects our focus on building vehicles that combine strength, precision and control, even in the most demanding conditions. With the MAJESTOR, we are setting new benchmarks for capability while staying committed to delivering meaningful innovation and confidence to our customers.” said Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India.
Engineered for customers seeking commanding presence and uncompromising capability, the MG Majestor blends rugged performance with refined luxury and intelligent technology. Its powertrain is paired with a best-in-class 8-speed automatic transmission, while segment-first features include Triple Differential Locks (front, rear, and centre), an advanced 4WD system with 10 off-road modes, and Crawl Control Mode.
Further enhancing its off-road credentials are a ground clearance of 219 mm and a water-wading capacity of 810 mm. As India’s first D+ SUV equipped with Level 2 ADAS, the Majestor harmonises formidable capability with advanced safety and a premium in-cabin experience.
In line with its customer-first philosophy, JSW MG Motor India offers the MG Majestor with a comprehensive ‘Complete Peace-of-Mind’ programme. This includes a 5-5-5 ownership package comprising a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty, five years of roadside assistance with unlimited kilometres, and five labour-free services.
The first 3,000 customers can avail of this programme and pre-reserve the vehicle at INR 41,000 via the official MG Motor India website. Early adopters will also benefit from priority deliveries, exclusive previews across select cities, and curated, invite-only experiential drives.
