Maruti Suzuki strengthens domestic manufacturing with second Kharkhoda plant in Haryana

In yet another decisive move underscoring its aggressive manufacturing expansion strategy, Maruti Suzuki India Limitedhas announced the commencement of commercial production at the second plant of its Kharkhoda manufacturing facility in Haryana.

The newly operational plant carries an annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units, taking the total installed capacity at the Kharkhoda facility to 5 lakh units per annum. With this expansion, Maruti Suzuki’s cumulative annual manufacturing capacity across its facilities in Gurugram, Manesar and Kharkhoda in Haryana, along with Hansalpur in Gujarat, has now risen to an impressive 26.5 lakh units.

Once fully operational, the Kharkhoda manufacturing facility is set to emerge as one of Suzuki’s largest four-wheeler production hubs globally, with an eventual capacity of producing 1 million vehicles annually.

The latest development is also aligned with the company’s previously outlined roadmap to add 5 lakh units of manufacturing capacity during FY 2026–27, reflecting Maruti Suzuki’s sustained focus on strengthening production readiness amid growing market demand.

Currently, the Kharkhoda facility manufactures the compact SUV Brezza and the mid-SUV Victoris, reinforcing the strategic importance of the plant within the company’s expanding SUV portfolio.

Notably, the foundation stone for the Kharkhoda facility was laid by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in August 2022, marking the beginning of what is steadily evolving into one of India’s most significant automotive manufacturing projects.

As India’s passenger vehicle market continues its upward trajectory, Maruti Suzuki’s latest production milestone further consolidates its position at the forefront of the country’s automotive manufacturing landscape.
