Ampere, the electric two-wheeler brand of Greaves Electric Mobility, has announced a major milestone in its growth journey, crossing 4 lakh electric scooters manufactured and sold in India. The achievement reflects the brand’s expanding footprint in the country’s mass electric mobility segment and marks another important chapter in its evolution from an early electric vehicle pioneer to a trusted player in India’s rapidly growing EV ecosystem.

The milestone comes at a time when demand for practical and cost-effective electric mobility solutions continues to gain momentum across the country. Ampere attributes its growth to a focused strategy centred on delivering smart, durable and safe electric vehicles engineered specifically for Indian roads, weather conditions and diverse terrains, while maintaining a strong emphasis on lower total cost of ownership compared with conventional ICE-powered vehicles.

Further reinforcing its upward trajectory, Ampere recorded a robust 51 per cent year-on-year growth in FY26. During the same period, the company’s market share rose from 3.6 per cent in FY25 to 4.4 per cent in FY26, strengthening its standing among the leading participants in India’s electric two-wheeler market.

The company’s growing consumer acceptance has been driven by products designed to address some of the most significant barriers to EV adoption. According to Ampere, the milestone reflects increasing confidence among first-time EV buyers, daily commuters, family users and business owners seeking dependable mobility solutions with lower running costs.

Built on a 100 per cent LFP battery platform, Ampere’s electric scooters offer enhanced safety, superior thermal stability and an extended lifecycle of up to approximately 200,000 kilometres, underscoring the brand’s focus on long-term ownership value.

Commenting on the achievement, Vikas Singh, MD, Greaves Electric Mobility, said, “Crossing the 4-lakh milestone reflects growing customer trust in Ampere and validates our focus on delivering dependable, value-driven electric mobility in the sub-₹1 lakh segment. As fuel costs rise, customers are increasingly seeking practical alternatives for everyday mobility. Our focus is to make this transition simple and dependable. We believe the next phase of EV growth in India will be driven by practical, mass-market solutions, and Ampere is well positioned to lead this transition. Our ‘Built for Bharat’ approach delivers solutions which not only meet these expectations but are also designed for demanding conditions with a strong focus on safety, durability and cost of ownership. As EV adoption accelerates, we remain committed to making electric mobility more accessible and relevant for the mass market.”

Among the brand’s standout performers is the Ampere Nexus, recipient of the “Electric scooter of the year 2025” award. The scooter has earned recognition for its endurance and engineering capabilities, demonstrated through notable achievements including the challenging climb of Kolli Hills’ 70 hairpin bends and a successful ride to Shipki La Pass, situated at an altitude of 13,200 feet.

Ampere’s award-winning portfolio extends further. The Magnus Grand recently secured the title of ‘Electric Scooter of the Year 2026’, while the Magnus G-Max was honoured with the ‘Family Scooter of the Year 2026’ award. These accolades reinforce the company’s growing credibility within the industry and continue to strengthen consumer trust across key buyer segments, including first-time EV adopters, families and everyday commuters.

The company noted that the 4 lakh milestone also includes slow-speed electric vehicles, which are not captured in VAHAN registration data.

Supporting this growth trajectory has been a continued expansion of Ampere’s dealer, retail and service footprint. During FY26, the company strengthened its dealer network by 12 per cent compared with FY25. Alongside network expansion, Ampere also undertook showroom revamps and implemented initiatives aimed at enhancing dealer productivity and improving customer experience.

Today, the brand maintains a strong retail presence across metropolitan centres as well as emerging EV markets, positioning it to capitalise on rising demand beyond traditional urban hubs.

Looking ahead, Ampere plans to further strengthen its portfolio through differentiated technologies and an expanded 100 per cent LFP-based product range, with continued focus on safety, thermal stability, lifecycle performance and low total cost of ownership. Guided by its ‘Built for Bharat’ philosophy, the company appears well positioned to play a pivotal role in accelerating mainstream electric vehicle adoption across India’s evolving mobility landscape.
