Bentley honours eight decades of Crewe craftsmanship with bespoke Continental GTC

Bentley Motors has celebrated a landmark milestone, commemorating 80 years of craftsmanship at its renowned headquarters in Crewe with an extraordinary gathering of more than 100 customer Bentleys representing the marque’s remarkable heritage. The celebrations, held alongside the Bentley Drivers Club’s 90th anniversary, also saw the debut of an exclusive one-off Continental GTC finished in bespoke Purple Supernova Ombre, created to honour the exceptional craftsmanship synonymous with Bentley’s Dream Factory.

For eight decades, Bentley’s headquarters in Crewe has stood as the home of the marque’s distinctive blend of craftsmanship, innovation and meticulous attention to detail. Since the very first Bentley emerged from the Pyms Lane production line in 1946, generations of highly skilled colleagues have handcrafted some of the world’s most coveted luxury automobiles, seamlessly combining traditional techniques passed down through the decades with cutting-edge engineering and advanced manufacturing technologies.

To commemorate the occasion, 107 Bentleys owned by members of the Bentley Drivers Club returned to the Home of Bentley, lining Pyms Lane in chronological order of production. The remarkable display began with EXP3, the first Bentley ever delivered to a customer, and concluded with a 2025 Flying Spur Speed. Together, the collection showcased every defining era of the marque’s history, spanning the W.O. Bentley cars, the Derby years and the modern Crewe-built range. The line-up featured everything from the iconic Blowers to today’s Bentayga, creating an extraordinary visual journey through more than a century of Bentley excellence.

Owners travelled from around the world to reunite their cherished automobiles with the very place where generations of Bentley motor cars have been meticulously handcrafted. The celebration honoured not only more than a century of Bentley heritage but also eight decades of unrivalled craftsmanship at Crewe, where the same unwavering commitment to excellence continues to define every Bentley produced at the company’s Dream Factory in Cheshire.

Originally constructed in 1938 to manufacture the legendary Rolls-Royce Merlin aero engines before becoming the home of Bentley’s vehicle manufacturing operations, the Crewe site has continuously evolved while remaining deeply rooted in its rich heritage. Eight decades on, the historic campus is approaching the completion of its most significant transformation to date as Bentley advances its next-generation Dream Factory — a digital, flexible and highly innovative manufacturing facility designed to build both the company’s current and future products while preserving the craftsmanship that has defined the brand for generations.

To commemorate the milestone, Bentley has also created a unique one-off Continental GTC through Mulliner, the marque’s personal commissioning division.

Finished in an exclusive Supernova Purple Ombre paint developed especially for the occasion by Bentley’s Paint Shop together with its CMF/Bespoke teams, the striking exterior transitions elegantly from Supernova Purple to Supernova Purple Dark. The bespoke ’80’ side graphic, featuring a reverse ombré effect, further reinforces the celebratory theme.

Inside, the handcrafted cabin continues the tribute with embroidered ’80’ headrests and a bespoke airbrushed fascia graphic depicting the iconic Design Studio building alongside a celebration of eight decades of Bentley car manufacturing in Crewe. Created exclusively to mark this milestone, the unique Continental GTC serves as a contemporary expression of the craftsmanship, innovation and meticulous attention to detail that have defined Bentley’s home in Crewe for the past 80 years.

Today, Crewe remains the heart of Bentley, bringing together design, research and development, manufacturing and commercial operations on a single integrated campus. In recent years, the company has comprehensively reimagined the site for the next era of vehicle production through the addition of several state-of-the-art facilities, including the Design Studio, Engineering Technical Centre, Excellence Centre for Quality and Launch, Integrated Logistics Centre and the Paint Shop, officially opened by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal earlier this month.

Looking ahead, and in advance of the global launch of Torcal, Bentley’s next model, work continues to transform the oldest building on the site into the assembly facility for the company’s first electric car, which is scheduled to be launched in September.
