Ola Electric launches S1Z with Bharat Cell LFP battery technology

Ola Electric has launched the all-new S1Z, introducing its indigenously developed Bharat Cell LFP technology to the mass-market electric scooter segment in India. Available in 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants, the S1Z is positioned as Ola Electric’s most accessible scooter range and is aimed at the country’s largest EV buying segment.

The S1Z brings Ola’s indigenous 46 series LFP cell platform technology, developed at its Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at the Ola Gigafactory, to a wider customer base. Ola Electric says the scooter has been designed around the belief that customers in the value segment should not have to compromise on technology, safety or performance.

Priced at ₹79,999 for the 3.1 kWh variant and INR 99,999 for the 5.1 kWh version, both ex-showroom and at introductory prices, the Ola S1Z offers up to 179 km and 301 km of range respectively, as per IDC.

By developing and manufacturing its Bharat Cell LFP technology in-house, Ola Electric says it has been able to significantly lower battery costs, which represent the single largest cost component of an electric vehicle. The S1Z is the first proof point of this strategy, bringing LFP chemistry to the mass market while focusing on safety, longevity and affordability.

The Ola S1Z will be available in White, Anthracite, Sky Splash Blue and Matcha Green, with 12-inch wheels offered across the range. Deliveries of the 3.1 kWh variant are scheduled to begin in December 2026, followed by the 5.1 kWh version from March 2027.

Powered by MoveOS 5, the S1Z gets cruise control, advanced regenerative braking, reverse mode, GPS and over-the-air (OTA) software updates. It also features geo, time and mode fencing, ride statistics and energy insights through the Ola Electric App. ‘Easy Park’ enables riders to manoeuvre into and out of tight parking spaces with a simple twist of the wrist.

The S1Z, which stands for getting ‘more’or ‘Zyada’, also marks the beginning of Ola Electric’s next phase of retail expansion. It will be the first product range to ramp up through the company’s first dealer-operated stores, beyond its company-owned retail network, significantly expanding access to Ola products across India.
