The Indian Superbike League (ISBL) has appointed actor-entrepreneur and motorcycle enthusiast John Abraham as Strategic Advisor, marking a significant step in its ambition to establish a new franchise-based superbike racing championship in India. The announcement coincides with the launch of a high-octane promotional film introducing ISBL as the future of superbike racing in the country.

With Abraham at the forefront of its launch, ISBL seeks to bring motorsport, entertainment and pop culture together in a distinctive sporting proposition. The film represents the league’s first major expression of its identity, combining performance, technology, personalities and competition with India’s enduring motorcycle culture.

Speaking about his association with the league, John Abraham, Strategic Advisor, Indian Superbike League, said, “Motorcycles have always been a deeply personal passion. Being a sports team owner has also taught me what it takes to turn belief into sustained commitment. ISBL brings those two parts of my life together. I want to help young Indian riders get the opportunities they deserve and share the thrill of motorcycle racing with a whole new generation of fans. It’s time to Get India Racing.”

Pranav Bakre, CEO, Indian Superbike League, underlined the personal significance of the initiative, drawing on his family’s racing heritage to articulate his ambition of creating opportunities for emerging talent. He also highlighted the role of music and culture in broadening the league’s appeal while keeping racing at its heart.

Meanwhile, Avi Jain, Managing Director, Dhuleva Group and Anchor Investor, ISBL, emphasised the commercial opportunity, outlining the ambition to build a premium, commercially sustainable championship capable of delivering enduring value for fans and partners across successive seasons.

Sanctioned by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), ISBL will operate as a franchise-based championship featuring two Pro categories, alongside Amateur, Female Riders and Rookie classes.

Beyond competition, the league aims to establish a structured environment for riders while creating opportunities for teams, technical personnel, brands, creators and the wider motorsport ecosystem. Its stated ambition is to bring a new generation of participants and fans into Indian superbike racing.
