Ducati Monster 2026 arrives in India with 111 hp V2 engine

Ducati has launched the fifth-generation Monster in India, renewing one of the most influential names in modern motorcycling more than three decades after the original model transformed the naked sports-bike segment.

First unveiled at the Cologne Motor Show in 1992, the Monster established a new formula built around “everything you need, nothing more”. Its Superbike-derived chassis, road-focused engine and unmistakable character quickly turned it into an icon, while creating a global community of enthusiasts known as the Monsteristi.

The 2026 Ducati Monster arrives in India following international design recognition, having won the Red Dot Design Award – Product Design 2026. The accolade acknowledges its contemporary interpretation of the Ducati icon while retaining the model’s distinctive identity. It also adds to Ducati’s Red Dot legacy, following awards for the 1199 Panigale, XDiavel S and Diavel 1260.

At its heart is Ducati’s new V2 twin-cylinder engine, which weighs 5.9 kg less than the previous Testastretta Evoluzione. Developing 111 horsepower at 9,000 rpm, it uses IVT variable valve timing and delivers more than 80% of maximum torque between 4,000 and 10,000 rpm. Valve-clearance checks are scheduled at 45,000 km.

The lightweight chassis incorporates a monocoque frame, double-sided swingarm and Showa suspension. At 175 kg with an empty tank, the new Monster is 4 kg lighter than its predecessor. Its 815 mm seat height, Brembo brakes, Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres and four Riding Modes further underline its everyday versatility.

The motorcycle also features a 5-inch TFT display, Ducati electronic rider aids and optional Ducati Protect service packages.

The 2026 Ducati Monster launches in India on 10 August 2026 in Monster and Monster+ versions, with the latter adding a passenger seat cover and headlight cowl.
