NEW DELHI

Reaffirming its long-term vision for sustainable mobility, JSW MG Motor India has introduced MG ADAPT (Advance Drive Architecture Platform Technology), India’s first Multi New Energy Vehicle (NEV) platform. Designed as an intelligent, future-ready modular architecture, the new platform seamlessly supports Electric Vehicles (EVs), Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and Range Extender Electric Vehicles (REEVs), bringing multiple electrified propulsion technologies under a single technological framework.

With the Indian mobility landscape evolving rapidly, MG ADAPT has been engineered to deliver the flexibility required to meet diverse customer expectations while remaining adaptable to future advancements in vehicle technology.

Developed as an intelligent modular platform, MG ADAPT integrates multiple new energy powertrain technologies within a common architecture. Its advanced engineering and enhanced design flexibility enable faster product development while prioritising improved driving range, fast-charging capability, greater efficiency, stronger performance, enhanced safety and superior driving refinement.

Importantly, the platform has been conceived to remain compatible with future mobility technologies, allowing customers to choose the powertrain best suited to their individual driving requirements.

As the technological foundation for JSW MG Motor India’s forthcoming generation of New Energy Vehicles, MG ADAPT establishes a new benchmark in platform versatility while reinforcing the company’s commitment to accelerating sustainable mobility in India.

Speaking at the unveiling, Anurag Mehrotra, Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, said, “At JSW MG Motor India, we believe the future of mobility lies in giving customers the freedom to choose the energy solution that best suits their lifestyle, without compromising on performance, efficiency or driving experience. MG ADAPT marks a defining milestone in our New Energy Vehicle journey and reflects our commitment to bringing globally advanced technologies that are relevant to the evolving needs of Indian customers.

Designed as a highly flexible technology platform, MG ADAPT brings together multiple energy solutions on a single intelligent architecture, enabling us to deliver vehicles that are more efficient, more adaptable and engineered for the future. As we continue to expand our New Energy Vehicle portfolio, this platform will serve as the technological backbone of our future products and reinforce our commitment to accelerating sustainable mobility in India.”

At the heart of MG ADAPT lies an Integrated Technology Ecosystem developed exclusively for hybrid applications, with the objective of delivering exceptional operational efficiency while enhancing drivability, fuel economy and long-distance convenience.

The system combines a dedicated hybrid engine, a dedicated battery system, a first-in-India 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit and the world’s first electromagnetic dedicated hybrid transmission. These technologies operate in conjunction with an Intelligent Energy Management System that continuously optimises the interaction between the engine, battery and electric motor to maximise efficiency, performance and driving comfort.

The dedicated hybrid engine has been specifically developed for hybrid applications, offering higher thermal efficiency while reducing fuel consumption. Supporting this is a dedicated battery system that delivers immediate electric response, enhanced safety and high operational efficiency.

Complementing these technologies is the compact 10-in-1 Intelligent Electric Drive Unit, which simplifies overall system complexity while improving both efficiency and performance. Meanwhile, the Electromagnetic Dedicated Hybrid Transmission enables seamless power delivery, quicker response and a more refined driving experience.

A key pillar of MG ADAPT is its Intelligent Energy Management System, which continuously analyses driving conditions before automatically selecting the most efficient operating strategy through four dedicated drive modes.

These include:

  • Pure Electric Drive for silent and responsive urban driving.
  • Series Hybrid Drive, where the engine generates electricity while the electric motor powers the wheels.
  • Parallel Hybrid Drive, allowing the engine and electric motor to work together for maximum performance.
  • Engine Direct Drive, optimised for efficient highway cruising.

Beyond conventional hybrid technologies, MG ADAPT has also been engineered to support Range Extender Electric Vehicle (REEV) technology through its highly modular architecture.

In this configuration, the electric motor remains solely responsible for driving the wheels, while a petrol engine functions exclusively as a generator to recharge the battery whenever required. The result is an electric-first driving experience coupled with significantly enhanced driving range, providing customers with greater confidence and flexibility during longer journeys.

With MG ADAPT, JSW MG Motor India is laying the technological groundwork for its future New Energy Vehicle portfolio. By accommodating multiple electrified propulsion technologies within a single scalable platform, the company is positioning itself to respond to evolving consumer preferences while advancing the transition towards sustainable mobility in India.
