Kia Sorento India revealed with Hybrid AWD and new AI tech

Kia India has revealed the first official images of the Sorento ahead of its India launch, marking the arrival of the brand’s new premium flagship SUV and its first hybrid SUV for the Indian market. The three-row Sorento also marks Kia’s entry into a new premium SUV segment in India, combining a commanding stance, distinctive design elements, refined interiors and a premium SUV experience.

Described as the most advanced Kia Sorento built in India, for India, the SUV strengthens Kia India’s premium portfolio while bringing its global SUV design philosophy to the country. The first images showcase its bold proportions, distinctive exterior detailing and contemporary, sophisticated interiors.

Production of the Kia Sorento has now commenced at Kia India’s Anantapur facility, with the first locally produced unit rolling off the production line today. The facility has been the manufacturing base for Kia’s India journey since production began in 2019.

The Sorento also marks an important step in Kia India’s multi-powertrain strategy. As Kia’s first hybrid SUV with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) for India, it combines electrification with enhanced driving capability. It will also be available with a Diesel powertrain, giving customers the choice between Hybrid and Diesel based on their driving and ownership needs.

Technology will be another major highlight. The Sorento will feature the Kia AI Assistant, powered by Live Generative AI capabilities. The India-specification Sorento will be the first Sorento globally to introduce the technology, as well as the first Kia model worldwide to bring Live Generative AI to the brand’s global product line-up. It will also mark the first introduction of Live Generative AI in the Indian automotive industry.
