Kia Sorento India debut brings Hybrid power, AWD and Next-Gen AI technology

Kia India has opened a significant new chapter in the country with the launch of the Kia Sorento, marking the brand’s entry into India’s premium three-row SUV segment. Priced from INR 27.99 lakh for the Diesel and INR 29.99 lakh for the Hybrid (ex-showroom), the Sorento also introduces Kia’s first Hybrid offering in India.

The India-spec Sorento carries another notable global first: Kia AI Assistant with Real-Time Generative AI capabilities makes its global debut with the model, making it the first SUV in its segment to offer the technology. Official deliveries began nationwide from 04th September 2026.

With more than 24 years of evolution spanning four generations, the Sorento has found more than 4.8 million customers across 132 countries. In India, its 4,815 mm length, 1,900 mm width, 2,815 mm wheelbase and 1,785 mm height with roof rails make it the longest and widest SUV in its segment.

The premium cabin is centred around a 31.24 cm (12.3-inch) HD touchscreen navigation cockpit and a matching 31.24 cm (12.3-inch) HD display instrument cluster, integrated into Kia’s Panoramic Curved Display Panel. A Windshield Head-Up Display, Advanced Digital IRVM, Dual Pane Panoramic Sunroof and 64-colour Ambient Mood Lighting further elevate the experience.

Available in six- and seven-seat configurations, the Sorento brings ventilated second-row seating, powered first-row seats, Captain Seats on the six-seater and extensive convenience features across all three rows.

Technology takes centre stage, with Kia AI Assistant enabling natural conversations, real-time search, follow-up questions and selected vehicle controls. The SUV also offers Kia Connect 2.0 with 85+ connected-car features, OTA updates to 30 controllers, Digital Key 2.0, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a Smart Dashcam.

The Sorento is powered by either a Smartstream 1.6 Turbo GDI Hybrid producing 180 PS and 265 Nm, supported by a 65 PS electric motor delivering 264 Nm, or a Smartstream-D 2.2 Diesel developing 193 PS and 442 Nm. Both are available with AWD, while the Hybrid is the first in its segment to combine a Hybrid powertrain with AWD.

Safety credentials include ADAS Level 2+ with 30 autonomous features, a Robust 26 Standard Safety Package, seven airbags as standard and three additional airbags on the top line. A 360-degree camera, Blind View Monitor, 12 parking sensors and five radars further strengthen its safety suite.

Built on Kia’s global N3 platform and developed in India for Indian requirements, the Sorento also incorporates an acoustic windshield, India-specific grille detailing and Black High Glossy Bridge Type Roof Rails.

The SUV will be offered in three base trims, each with an option pack, across its Hybrid and Diesel powertrains. Eight exterior colours will be available, alongside an exclusive Black Line trim featuring blacked-out exterior elements and 19-inch Premium Crystal Cut Alloy Wheels.
