NEW DELHI
Renault India has introduced the New Renault Kwid, a considered update to its entry-level offering that sharpens focus on clarity, accessibility, and contemporary design appeal for first-time car buyers.
The latest iteration of the Kwid arrives with a refreshed design language, a simplified variant structure, and a more streamlined ownership proposition. In keeping with the aspirations of a new generation of buyers stepping into car ownership for the first time, Renault has also introduced its new brand identity on the Kwid, signalling a subtle yet meaningful evolution in its market positioning.
At the heart of this update is a restructured two-variant line-up comprising Evolution and Climber. The move is designed to make the decision-making process more intuitive, eliminating complexity while enhancing perceived value. The New Kwid is priced competitively, starting at INR 4.52 lakh, with additional online benefits available on the Climber variant, effectively positioning the fully loaded Climber at INR 4.99 lakh. This pricing strategy underscores the model’s continued emphasis on value-led accessibility.
Commenting on the launch, Francisco Hidalgo, VP – Sales and Marketing Renault India, said, “For millions of Indians, owning their first car remains an important milestone. With an increasingly aspirational middle class and a large base of two-wheeler owners looking to upgrade, first-time ownership continues to be a strong and enduring aspiration.
Over 4.5 lakh customers in India have started their journey with Kwid, and that trust is something we deeply value. With the New Kwid, we are building on this legacy by making the offering simpler, clearer, and more relevant.”
Since its introduction in 2015, the Kwid has played a transformative role in reshaping India’s entry hatchback segment. With its SUV-inspired design cues and contemporary feature set, it redefined expectations in a space once dominated purely by utilitarian offerings.
The latest update continues that legacy, shifting focus towards enhanced clarity and ease of ownership. By refining its design, simplifying the variant structure, and improving the overall buying experience, Renault aims to make the New Kwid a more intuitive and appealing choice for first-time buyers.
In terms of features, the New Kwid continues to offer a robust package tailored for urban mobility. It includes a bold SUV-inspired design with high ground clearance and strong road presence, supported by best-in-segment 184 mm ground clearance and best-in-class boot space of 279 litres, ensuring enhanced practicality.
Safety remains a key pillar, with 17 standard safety features including dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and seat belt reminders. The model also features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully digital LED instrument cluster, and a rear view camera with guidelines.
Under the bonnet, the 1.0-litre petrol engine continues to offer a balance of performance and efficiency, paired with both 5-speed manual and Easy-R AMT transmission options. The AMT variants further benefit from a rotary dial gear selector designed to improve ease of use in urban driving conditions.
Convenience features such as remote keyless entry, central locking, power windows, and power steering enhance everyday usability, while stylish dual-tone interiors and Climber-specific exterior accents reinforce its contemporary appeal. Wheel arch cladding and rugged body styling further accentuate its SUV-inspired character.
With compact dimensions tailored for urban environments, the New Kwid continues to position itself as a practical, accessible, and aspirational entry point into car ownership in India’s evolving automotive landscape.
