Renault Triber 100PS launched with new RGEP platform

Renault India has launched the new Triber 100PS at an introductory price of ₹7.84 lakh (ex-showroom), marking the Indian debut of the Renault Group Entry Platform (RGEP). Combining a 100 PS turbocharged petrol engine, seven-seat modularity and a claimed fuel efficiency of 21 km/l, the latest Triber represents a significant step in Renault’s product offensive in India.

Developed around an extensively re-engineered architecture, the Triber 100PS seeks to marry enhanced performance with the practicality, efficiency and affordability that have defined the model’s appeal among Indian families.

The Triber 100PS is the first Renault India product to be built on the new RGEP architecture, designed to accommodate evolving regulatory requirements, future mobility needs and multiple powertrain solutions.

At its heart is Renault’s turbocharged TCe 100 engine, producing 100 PS and 180 Nm of torque. The powertrain is supported by a new Renault Engine Management System (R-EMS), alongside an advanced thermal-management architecture, structural enhancements and revised suspension geometry.

Further engineering revisions include front and rear anti-roll bars, MTV Damper Technology, optimised braking calibration and vehicle dynamics tuning tailored to Indian road conditions. A brushless direct-current (BLDC) cooling fan also features in the thermal-management system, enabling more precise cooling control and improved energy efficiency.

Together, these changes are intended to deliver a more composed, stable and responsive driving experience without compromising everyday usability. Renault quotes a certified fuel efficiency of 21 km/l.

Retaining the Triber’s distinctive modular layout, the new model accommodates five, six or seven occupants. Easy-Fix third-row seats, slide-and-recline second-row seating and one-touch tumble access allow the cabin to be configured for varying passenger and luggage requirements.

Measuring under four metres and powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, the Triber 100PS qualifies for the 18% GST rate applicable to small petrol cars. More than 2.5 lakh Triber vehicles have been sold in India, underlining the model’s importance to Renault’s domestic portfolio.

Depending on the variant, equipment includes an eight-inch floating touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital LED instrument cluster, automatic air-conditioning, cruise control, wireless charging, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps and a Smart Access Card. Independent rear air-conditioning with second- and third-row vents further enhances cabin comfort.

Safety equipment includes six airbags and 21 safety features as standard. Depending on the variant, buyers can also opt for front parking sensors, a rear-view camera with guidelines and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
