Yokohama GEOLANDAR X-CV brings premium SUV tyre technology to wider range of SUVs

Yokohama India has launched the GEOLANDAR X-CV range for the country’s crossover and premium SUV market, extending a tyre technology originally developed for luxury SUVs with wheel sizes above 18 inches to applications starting from 16 inches.

With 32 planned sizes spanning 16 to 20 inch wheel, GEOLANDAR X-CV will be India’s most extensive, dedicated tyre pattern for crossover and premium SUVs. The expansion comes as the segment continues to evolve, with motorists increasingly seeking a balance of safety, comfort, durability and refined driving performance.

Engineered for varied weather conditions and challenging Indian road conditions, the GEOLANDAR X-CV incorporates Yokohama’s latest compound and tread innovations. Its Micro Silica technology is designed to enhance wet-road grip while reducing rolling resistance for improved driving efficiency.

An optimized Asymmetric tread design, featuring specially engineered inner and outer shoulder blocks, improves wet-road traction, steering response and high-speed cornering stability. Meanwhile, four wide circumferential grooves efficiently evacuate water, enhancing wet braking performance and resistance to hydroplaning.

Yokohama’s proprietary 2D–3D Combination Sipes further improve wet traction while promoting even wear for extended tyre life. Complementing these technologies, 5-Pitch Variation Technology is intended to minimise pattern noise, creating a quieter and more refined in-cabin driving experience.

For the demands of India’s crossover and premium SUV segment, the GEOLANDAR X-CV also features reinforced two-ply sidewall construction and Full Nylon Cover technology, enhancing durability and high-speed stability.

The new range is also EV Compatible. Its robust construction is designed to accommodate the higher vehicle weight and instant torque characteristics of electric vehicles, while maintaining durability, extended tyre life and refined driving performance.

The launch underscores Yokohama India’s long-term commitment to the country’s premium mobility sector and reflects the company’s strategy of expanding its premium product portfolio through sustained investments in manufacturing, localization and innovation.

The GEOLANDAR X-CV will be available from August 2026 across the Yokohama Club Network (YCN) and select Yokohama India’s authorized dealer network in a wide range of specifications, catering to premium, mid-size and compact crossover SUVs.
